I can speak for Flattop, he's a damn fine TEAMSTER, and his heart is in the right place. His statement may come across a little harsh, but I can assure you, he didn't mean to.
ok, lets hear some ideas on how you would solve any of the problems .oil price is not controlled by the USA.there are many things the US government can do but then the US slides toward socialism.my own opinion is let the companies fail and thise who have debt to their eyeballs go bankrupt.it will be a very long rough road but the economy will stablize after the big bust.keep the government out of the mess or it will be worst than letting it blow up on its own.the only other way out of the mess is for everyone to spend everything they make which sounds insane.
I was being hypothetical with those figures.
People were living within their means. Till Gas jumped up over $1.75 this year alone. People lost their jobs and Unemployment is not cutting it. Look at American Axle who cut their employees wages 50%. They were living within their means untill jobs were at jeapordy. What are you to do? Sell your home and move into a cheaper house at todays market? Good luck.
The original point was that NO business will not pick up because the economy is in the garbage. No One has extra money to spend on goods such as new cars and new homes. The extra freight left by Jevic will be fought over all the carriers. That was my original point. And P.S. I do not think you are bashing me. I enjoy a decent dialog between us members. Keeps this messageboard interesting. My point was not to bash anyone. I just don't fall into the Democratic excuse machine. Is anyone on here really going to tell me that they did not know gas was going to get high this summer. That's been the trend for the last 8 years. No reason in thinking this year would be any different. I've got 5 kids myself now, and a hybrid doesn't quite fit us all. This summer I will be shopping for a 12 passenger van since we have outgrown our mini-van. I'm feeling the crunch just like everybody else is, but I also have been planning for it. It's nobody else's fault if I make the wrong decisions. That's all I'm talking about.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but your original comment was about gas prices going up, making ends meet, and living on credit cards, not about people losing there jobs. That's a different story altogether, and one we probably could agree on.
Honestly It does not matter who we vote for, The whole entire government needs to be replaced. The war is the biggest cost to us in life's and taxes. What we need is a revolution, a wake up call. Toll roads are being sold out underneath us to foreign investors, China is shipping us death by lead. And Autism is running rampant among children, who get vaccinations from their doctors who purchase the medication from China.(just my opinion). Sorry for all the doom and gloom, But we a faced with a very tough decision come November. We just have to pick the lesser of three evils.Vote for Obama ....then you will see what real taxes are. 48%
Here here!Honestly It does not matter who we vote for, The whole entire government needs to be replaced. We just have to pick the lesser of three evils.
What you fail to understand is only the rich will survive economicaly. The US government can declare oil, natural gas and coal to be necessary commodities and regulate the price structure of all. Remember, we have a big enough supply in this country, to control it in our country. Mexico does so already.
Another Method
Our government can eliminate the high cost of gasoline/diesel by enacting rationing. Based on your employers reported address for you, you are allocated the right to purchase so much fuel. No extra fuel for the rich to power their boats, 4 wheelers and run on trips. No extra diesel for their RV's to play around the country. This would bring fuel prices down PDQ.
