My Dad was born in 1928. His Father lost his job during the Great Depression. My Dad told me when he was a young child one Christmas, his only present was a peach.
I heard some young folks complaining during the 2008 recession. They said they had it worse than those who went through the depression. A woman older than me told them they did not have a clue about hard times.
 
Eric dresses casual for his performances, jeans & comfortable shoes. He was asked years ago what boots he had on at a performance, he said Red Wing because they are comfortable & last a long time. Red Wing sales went up when others also decided it was okay to not wear uncomfortable dress shoes.
This is one of his signature songs. He also wrote a song at a very difficult time in his life after his young son's death. As I remember he fell out of a window.
You are correct. However, this great song was written about George Harrison’s wife. His tribute to his son was early 00’s? Tears from Heaven (maybe).
