A top YRC Worldwide Inc. executive is leaving to “pursue a new career opportunity,” the Overland Park-based trucking company reported Friday afternoon.

Paul Liljegren has worn the multiple hats of chief accounting officer, corporate controller and senior vice president-finance. He leaves March 23, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission .

YRC (Nasdaq: YRCW) said his new career path will be outside the less-than-truckload industry. LTL carriers such as YRC accumulate small shipments into full loads.

Liljegren joined YRC in 2004 as vice president, risk and assurance. He was appointed as vice president, corporate controller and chief accounting officer in 2005..............
