Its going to suck in Chicago if they merge Holland's McCook and Wheeling terminals into 309 and 303 road, city and dock lists. The Holland drivers won't like driving doubles and doing team runs.
Made that change at New Penn too, doesn’t seem to have been received to well by the shippers.Terminal manager just announced that executives will now be Yrcw.
Don't know all details or how many job losses but if you ask me we will all be one company before the end of contract.
Maybe we will all be HNRY logistics.

But wait till the YRC guys have to do velocity dock work in the middle of the night at one of those cold ass terminals in the midwest! Its going to suck in Chicago if they merge Holland's McCook and Wheeling terminals into 309 and 303 road, city and dock lists. YRC people have done velocity work already in cold ass terminals in the northeast. That's no problem, but if they keep combining terminals through out the 3 companies a lot of people will be looking for jobs. Another fine job by Hoffa and Soehl. But wait till the YRC guys have to do velocity dock work in the middle of the night at one of those cold ass terminals in the midwest!
I'm not talking about city drivers or dock workers, I'm talking about your night time board drivers. I only drove for YRC for a short time when I was laid off from Holland by I never saw any of the guys on a dock, heck you couldn't even get them to break their own sets!YRC people have done velocity work already in cold ass terminals in the northeast. We didn't want them on the dock.I'm not talking about city drivers or dock workers, I'm talking about your night time board drivers. Same thing here at new penn, yrc regional management running the show now.Wonder if the corporate office is next?I wasn't at meeting I'm getting second hand but I know our terminal manager has a new boss and it's YRC. manager.
It’s curious. In my district, there were three terminals, each participating in velocity/utility. The #1 in seniority at the other two terminals took the bid. At the time, I was bottom man and the bid fell to me.But wait till the YRC guys have to do velocity dock work in the middle of the night at one of those cold ass terminals in the midwest!
I’m glad none of you ,”speculators”, are buying and selling stocks for me.....
And that is all it is, me a simpleton driver with my guess.I do have reasons though.
They have combined the Salesforce's.
They are eliminating and combining management.
They are combining 25 terminals and more to come.
I just cant see 1 terminal with 2 terminal managers and 2 operation managers.
Dispatch and clerical could be reduced in combined terminals.
They could still ( try) operate 1 and 2 day lanes in Holland facilities.
It seems most shippers are more price driven than service driven .
A lot of 1 and 2 day becomes 2 and 3 day anyway ( focus on claim free could help)
They ( company and union) put the language in the contract for a reason
I would guess it would trim at least 5,000 rank and file jobs
They aren't even trying to say they won't do it like they did with ROADWAY and Yellow.
Just my thoughts but, it sure seems like big changes are coming
Amen. You reap what you sow. People look at next Thursday paycheck instead of looking down the line..Hoffa and No Soehl didn't vote, your fellow teamsters in your barn that you see everyday voted this in
Well you are wrong because we had velocity workers on bids who worked on docks every night up in the northeast area.I'm not talking about city drivers or dock workers, I'm talking about your night time board drivers. I only drove for YRC for a short time when I was laid off from Holland by I never saw any of the guys on a dock, heck you couldn't even get them to break their own sets!
You are right, there is a new breed of Teamsters today. For almost 40 years I worked with a group of men at several different companies who believed if you hurt my brother you hurt me and we are not going to stand for that. Guess what most of the time showing some guts led to change for the better. Not now that's why I packed it in and retired.Hoffa and No Soehl didn't vote, your fellow teamsters in your barn that you see everyday voted this in
realityofitall, your right the members did vote for this but most of these people don't even read what they are voting for. They listen to half/ass gossip on the street and don't take the time to absorb the language in the contract. People like Soehl and local BA's are suppose to break down the language in the contract and explain to the members exactly how this new wording will or could affect your job. Shame on everybody, this change will just be the beginning of many people losing their jobs.Hoffa and No Soehl didn't vote, your fellow teamsters in your barn that you see everyday voted this in
