ODFL | Layoffs Again

And they will deny everyone. Everyone who I have talked to OD or not have had to have a hearing over the phone. Some got it then other didn't.Here, what I was told the company has to pay the money out to the ones that draw.So Companies do everything they can not to have to pay those
In Oregon, there’s a few ‘boxes to check’ as to the ‘Reason for Separation’ when applying for unemployment benefits. One of the boxes reads: ‘Lay-off/lack of work’....meaning, it’s the same box, not an either/or situation. If your hours were cut drastically, or you were laid off outright, you can file a claim. If your hours are reduced, you can still collect benefits, as long as you don’t surpass a certain threshold of gross income per week. You can earn up to a certain amount. Once you pass that amount, they deduct on a dollar-for-dollar basis. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the laws vary from state to state.

Interesting.

Most Non-Union Trucking Company's do not pay unemployment insurance. So they terminate you and most will fight to have to pay you.If you file and win then the company has to pay out.Heard of several that have drawn. But,Companies will do all they can not to pay.Other's who have more info please chime in.
I was let go 10 years ago during that slow down. I started drawing unemployment 2 weeks later. I was also allowed to keep insurance benefits at the same cost as I was paying while employed as long as I didn't miss any payments for a year. After 11 months I went to work for another company. After only a month there, OD called me back. Now hopefully I'm high enough on the list I shouldn't be let go again. I did get called back at top pay but had to start over again on vacation and safety bonus.

Did you keep your former seniority (company/job selection) or did you have to start at the bottom?

Seen where Houston let 3 drivers go and South Houston let 7 drivers go this past week.Anyone who can confirm this?
