I think we will be ok in the long term...but right now alot of people are going to lose there jobs. I have alot of friends that are still layed off at YRCW

it will work out...there is still plenty of freight to move & companys will be needing drivers

LOL, you must be an optimist......try telling these guys that just lost their jobs. If there was plenty of freight we wouldnt have this situation...........

isn't there something in their contracts that lets the drivers move to where their freight is being serviced from? correct me if i'm wrong...but let's say X terminal is being closed, and the area it services will be covered partly from Y terminal and Z terminal. can't alot of the drivers transfer to terminals Y and Z?

The freight isn't being transferred. The terminals are just closing. YRC has offered to service any customer who has lost their USF carrier. The union has an agreement with the company to give laid-off employees preferential hiring consideration. Go back to the original post. The information is all there.

I feel Real bad for those guys.Us Red Star guys were supposed to get the same treatment when they closed us and it never happened.
Best of luck to you guys, you're gonna need it.

teir

now you guys must start at the bottom again that is messed up good luck we should have gotten rid of the teir system a long time ago

sorry about the closing"s;with the non-union carriers and this being an election year things are bad! every election year freight is slow; so maybe next jan things will pick up.

Sadly their are still going to be some without jobs with the union lines some of my old buddies that left non union copanies and went to Holland and Yellow have this fear with all that is going on with
DHL taking control.

DHL...:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: I can only hope!!!

Owlpuss according to my friends that left to work at the union lines
DHL has purchased YRC thus they will be in control as was posted
earlier they plan to cut 1100 jobs and close 27 terminals sounds like
they have control already?

Zollars, aka the ceo of YRCW is the one that made the decision to downsize the USF companies. If DHL bought YRCW, it would be on the DHL and YRCW webpages. It is nowhere to be found. The DHL/YRCW connection was nothing but rumor and specualtion. Both companies have denied any contact with each other regarding a purchase. Does this mean it may never happen? Not in the least. But for right now, the 2 are seperate and independant of each other.

Another point to make.
With the loss of 1100 jobs, it is more important now that ALL USF workers vote NO on this bullchit contract.
Dontcha just love how Tyson and Jimmy have made your job more secure?:nutkick:
