FedEx Freight | Bonus time

Freight will never be sold. UPS wasn’t even close to being profitable and actually lost money when they sold it compared to when they bought it. Freight makes them very good money. Isn’t happening
That's not true at all. Ups didn't separate the freight side on it's books so it's hard to say if they were doing good or not. They had to be making money. The first quarter T Force had a respectable OR, with very minimal changes.

I ran into a old friend from UPS this weekend and as hard
as we tried to not talk trucking in front of our ladies it had
to happen but got tangled up with some younger drivers
that like to come to the old men. No fear our girls save us :1036316054:

He said UPS only wanted it for 5 years and wanted to use
it as a tax write off. He was not a package car driver and very
legit man. I'll be curious to see how you all think. He seemed
very sure of what he was telling me. Just a note , we were not
drinking .

Plausible, combined with the leverage used to get out of Central States liabilities. AND their contract certainly disrupted the market, forcing other carriers to spend untold amounts on pacifying their drivers. I won't rehash what fedex spent. Note I said pacify, not satisfy.

No company, no shareholder EVER intentionally loses money. The tax write off thing is a joke. It's like giving half of your paycheck to the Red Cross so you can write it off.

Fair enough, to a point. We have to remember that there are separate entities under the Corp. umbrella. Taking a (relatively small) hit on the freight portion in order to realize a significantly greater gain for the parent Corporation, makes absolute sense.

To your point, a tax write off for losses is not a reason to buy a company. Tax credits, for all sorts of so-called clean initiatives or social agendas? THAT is a different story, involving free money, making the financially foolish into something of real benefit to the bottom line.

Well my Razor , I have many friends far smarter and have heard that they will donate a large bonus legally to
off set taxes but they are good people and donate anyway. None of my business it was table talk and I ask no
questions and I needed to use the restroom.

How dare you question the HOA chairman.
I'm sure UPS would be a much better-run company if Razor were sitting in the big chair.:1sm364jumpbed:

Not to nit pick, but tax write offs and tax credits are two entirely different things.
