ABF | Central Freight Lines Up On Deck

Driver these owners see the writing on the wall. Amazon is building 100 trucking hubs around the country. They said they will move freight at cost, 30% less then other companies can.
Do you see them going after the bigger Items to deliver? The biggest truck I see so far for home delivery was a replica of a Ups package car.

But.....but,.....Where are they going to get drivers? Will they pay so well that,....experienced drivers will leave their current employers in droves?
Will they establish their own.....truck driving schools?

Thereby insuring a YouTube "Comedy Of Errors" channel for years to come?......

Do driving records matter?

Amazon does NOT, directly employ any truck drivers. All the vans, straight trucks, and day cabs, are available to become a contractor, or lease purchase.
False, they pay guys like $16-$18/hr for a mix of job duties that include security guard, switcher, and driver for short moves between local warehouses. The guys who do it think they’re top ::shit:: for moving up from making $15/hr working inside the building.

Here’s an example job listing: https://www.amazon.jobs/en/jobs/1271811/transportation-associate

Interesting, Brother,......But, I think the bulk of the transportation jobs Amazon offers is....contractor positions, following the FedEx model.
The panel truck delivery drivers are contracted in....most regions, I think. As far as the long-haul stuff,...the bulk of that is contracted out to whichever carrier is the cheapest bid....at that moment.

I'm sure Amazon has a number of..."captive" transportation employees in every location. It would be smart to do so, for critical moves made completely under Amazon control. High-dollar sensitive stuff, I'd think.......

But,....Jockey and truck drivers for......$18 an hour? Man.....What kind of "Quality" benchmark are they shooting for?
The Old Adage:
"Good is Never Cheap, And Cheap is Never Good...."

Very true, most of their transportation and delivery network is contracted out. The people who are working directly for them driving trucks for peanuts are getting suckered in by the brand. Just like the O/Os who will fall over themselves rushing to haul an Amazon load, no matter how unprofitable it may be. Or the average Joe who pays $119 yearly for a Prime subscription but only orders a few items per year.

Anybody work a Teamster dock years ago where no one was allowed to work the dock or yard without being a union member? Were there ever work stoppages to prevent this action by management? Did the Local officials come on the property & tell the men to stand down until it was resolved? The only effective way to get what you want is to effect their bottom line. Only then will you have their undivided attention. Comments? von.

Did you know that at some Teamster freight outfits in the NY Metro area the dock was ILA?
