Good Food Thread

I use olive oil only. A small spray for steaks. Plus worcheshier sauce. (Lea Perrings etc.)

The meats I fry are juicy. They dont stick unless burnt to it. I keep a indoor grill which does well It does not take more than a few puffs of that olive oil spray which is almost doubled in price. WIth the loss of the Olive Oil Crops in Spain and Greece this winter its going to double again. I have 10 cans stored for 2024. That should be enough.

I have finally decided to buy Omaha Steaks by mail order. About 120 dollars for a number of meat items from there and its good for the month instead of paying more than that at Walmart or wherever for meat items. As the store prices locally here continue to become absurd (Atlantic Salmon; one individual fish is about 40 dollars give or take 10 depending on food content weight)

Im just sorry that theres a new stadium built over what used to be the Packer Ave Truckstops and Street Roach Coacher line. I used to pack several paper bags of big fat Philly cheese steaks, fried with onions, cheese and so on and eat on that a whole week for 20 dollars. I have some day cabs probably with the greasy spot wheret the bags used to ride near the shifter boot to this day.

CrazySandy , I have q question for you please.
So for Christmas I got a 15 pound bone in ham.
It looks to be ready to be brought up to 140 degrees
so It would be a cured & smoked ham. What kind
of glaze would you do ?

My thoughts were Mrs. SS. & I would take a good
rootbeer and rinse it off , a bit in a bowl with brown
sugar , powdered onion , garlic , clove and a touch
of fine homemade maple syrup. Slather it up and
rub it all over --- some on the ham too. We will put
it in a Reynolds cooking bag that's been flowered
to keep it nice and moist bringing it to 140 and it
will rest to I'd guess 145 ?

Maybe 300 degree oven and watch the internal
temp closely -- I hate dry ham ! Your advice along
with anyone's advice. And no I don't like the pin
cushion clove and Pineapple thing they did as a
youngster. It was good don't get me wrong but I'm
the kid that swims up the creek.

Thank you. Mr. & Mrs. Smokestack
🎄 < That's the only tree we have , Murder Cat ripped the other one down and took it down the hall with ye.....

I am totally with you guys on the nasty clove pineapple with cherries sticking out ham thing we were all forced to eat as children. Sounds amazing. I've have a confession never cooked my own ham been a cheater....and honey baked it. So let me know cuz I have a hook up for hams just don't know how to cook them!!! Wishing you and Mrs. SS a very Merry Christmas

Did you say homemade maple syrup? 🍁 wow
Yes The Boys mostly drink and call it making maple syrup.
Somehow some of it ends up in a Mason Jar with moonshine
and you wake up outside The Sugar Shack with pee on your
boot as a lesson to remember. Mrs. SS. keeps mine polished
well as to repel the pee but depending how long The Boys
left you laying there it could be in your boot. Yep a spring
ritual and a lesson the new guys never forget. I don't trust
any of them that's why Smokestack watches the cut. ☠️
