Wow! I bet that would've been a sight to behold. I hope everyone comes out okay.

Continue to stand firm, FedEx.

More fun facts on the "boy wonder" (Hogg), and his ill-fated attempt to punish his arch enemy, the NRA.

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/may/27/publix-suspends-political-donations-after-die-in-p/

"While Publix tilts decidedly right in its political giving, the supermarket giant has also donated more than $760,000 since 2008 to Democratic committees, including at least two dozen candidates for federal office at odds with the NRA.

They include multiple members of the Black Congressional Caucus, former Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Sens. Michael Bennet of Colorado, Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Patty Murray of Washington, Bill Nelson of Florida, and Ron Wyden of Oregon."

"In the presidential contest, Publix donated more to Mrs. Clinton than Republican Donald Trump, with $6,523 to her candidacy and $4,941 to his, along with $3,764 to the Sanders campaign.

In addition, the grocery chain has made charitable contributions to the YWCA, which belongs to the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, according to the conservative corporate watchdog 2ndVote."

Publix has contributed to United Way chapters and Susan G. Komen, which support Planned Parenthood..."

This is not the first time that a Hogg-lead boycott has backfired.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/31216/backfire-parkland-activists-boycott-publix-does-ryan-saavedra

"Hogg launched a boycott of Fox News host Laura Ingraham after she tweeted a mild criticism of him, getting multiple sponsors to drop her program before her ratings exploded by 20% and operations appeared to return to normal.

Hogg's infamous comments about the NRA and Republicans being "child murderers" also led to a surge in donations to the gun rights group; their donations tripled in February and then broke all-time records in March.

FMCSA to allow drivers hours flexibility in finding parking after leaving shipper/receiver

https://www.ccjdigital.com/fmcsa-to...tm_term=newsletter-2-daily-position-top-story

"Effective immediately, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will allow drivers to enter into personal conveyance status, whether the truck is loaded or not, to find the nearest safe parking or rest location after their hours of service are exhausted by a shipper/receiver or off-duty periods are interrupted by law enforcement.

“The movement from a shipper or receiver to the nearest safe resting area may be identified as personal conveyance,” according to a notice from FMCSA, “regardless of whether the driver exhausted his or her hours of service, as long as the CMV is being moved solely to enable the driver to obtain the required rest at a safe location.”

Roadcheck enforcement spree next week, inspectors to key in on hours of service violations (June 5-7)

"...inspectors will perform full Level I inspections on most rigs checked during the inspection blitz. Level I inspections are the most thorough, including examination of both driver compliance and vehicle-related violations."
It’s getting a tad ridiculous with the seek and destroy mindset law enforcement has toward us. I see big trucks pulled over 3 or 4 to 1 versus passenger cars. This isn’t going encourage new drivers to stay in the business. Why focus on the big rigs? Money? If it was about safety for everyone I’d keep my mouth shut

The friggin bastards treat Roadcheck like every driver is a lying bastard. I love how they're making it about HOS violations the year they adopt the mechanism that's supposed to put an end to the excuses.

Bring it on. I've got nothing to hide.

"...a six-day, 2,410-mile trip along Interstate 10 from San Diego to Jacksonville, Fla. While the Starship’s fuel economy averaged 8.94 mpg, it achieved a freight ton efficiency average of 178.4 ton-miles per gallon, a 248 percent improvement over the on-highway Class 8 industry average of 72 ton-mpg."

A little misleading, Don't ya think? Since the average truck does NOT run west to east, across I-10... :scratchhead:

More here interesting details here:
http://www.fleetowner.com/running-green/real-journey-just-beginning-shells-starship-truck

"The truck was bombarded by curious passersby throughout its journey, both on the highway and during stops along the way, including a state trooper who pulled the truck over as it entered Florida.

“We weren’t doing anything wrong, he was just so enthralled and intrigued by the truck,” Sliwa said.

“He told me during our stop autonomous vehicles are allowed in Florida now, and he didn’t know if it was autonomous, and I guess he wanted to see if the robot would stop when he lit him up.” :biglaugh:

UPS Strike Could Disrupt Business Across U.S.

https://www.inc.com/yasmin-gagne/ups-biggest-strike-in-decades.html

"More than 90 percent of the shipping company's union members voted in favor of going on strike if a deal is not reached before the current labor contract expires on August 1"
Yeah but this is SOP...

https://unionnegotiations.ups.com/latest-news/teamsters-call-strike-authorization-vote

  • Strike authorization votes are taken by most unions during contract negotiations to drive media attention, and put pressure on a company during the negotiations.
  • Regardless of the authorization to strike, the reality is that a strike authorization vote does not give the IBT the ability to call a strike while the current national master agreements are in effect through July 31, 2018.
  • Business continues as usual at UPS, and we continue to negotiate with the Teamsters about two weeks every month.
  • We have reached tentative agreements on a wide variety of non-economic issues.
  • UPS is confident in our ability to reach an agreement that meets the needs of our employees and the business.

UPS isn't afraid to use scabs to cover struck freight. And I would have to wonder how many guys would actually picket nowadays. Some bleed blue, others don't care.
