DOT Issues Compliance Notice Cautioning Truck Drivers About CBD Products

https://www.ttnews.com/articles/dot...e-cautioning-truck-drivers-about-cbd-products

"The notice said it is important for employees to know that DOT requires testing for marijuana but not CBD.

However, DOT officials said the Food and Drug Administration does not currently certify the levels of THC in CBD products, so there is no federal oversight to ensure that the labels are accurate.

For truck drivers, the DOT drug-and-alcohol testing regulation does not authorize the use of Schedule 1 drugs, including marijuana, for any reason, and CBD use is not a legitimate medical explanation for a laboratory-confirmed marijuana positive result."

"The court held that even while the “employees may have been free to leave the truck and engage in personal activities during layovers” the language of the policy “restricted drivers’ freedom of movement and prevented drivers from making a unilateral decision to spend layovers at home without preapproval,” thus making the downtime compensable."

"The best-in-class LTL carrier, for example, got 188% more distance – a difference of 27,000 miles – between breakdowns over the fleet average. The best-in-class carrier in LTL squeezed nearly 8,000 more milesover the LTL average.

Cooling systems, the engine, lights, brakes and tires accounted for 64% of all roadside repairs experienced by participating fleets in the third quarter of 2019. Lighting repair on a per mile basis improved 15% in Q4 while engine repairs improved 13%. The biggest gain over the quarter was tires, with 29% more miles between repairs."
CCJ did asterisk 1 carrier as having the highest roadside repairs, Coop Dispatch of Cedar Rapids reported a nearly 200 % increase over 2018 for roof damage to trailers, fairing damage to tractors, and broken mirrors. It was not immediately clear at the time this report came out, as to wether or not Coop’s nearly 130 Ukrainian drivers affected these numbers. Calls to their office said all phones were disconnected.

My call connected, but heard no one on the line, however, I heard a voice in the background say " 15% my azz!"

A driver mentioned there is a bill being proposed at the national level to pay overtime to drivers. Anyone read any info on this?
They would have to change the Railway Act, unless the senate and president change it would never happen. It would cost trucking companies billions a year which they would pass along to customers raising rates greatly. To pay OT all drivers getting paid mileage, by load or daily would have to be changed to hourly. Can you imagine JB Hunt or Swift paying road drivers hourly !

They could. Only it would come out to about $7.00 an hour.

Anyone hearing rumors of Fx going to one board?

No, I'm not trolling.
Every time it slows down during winter the one board rumor(s) start flowing... and it’s usually after there’s been an influx of city drivers making the move to linehaul. Seems they fail to remove their rose colored glasses before they make their decision to transfer and all they see are the dollar signs. No one told them, nor did they bother to ask, about slowing down in the winter... and it never fails, they begin to push for a one board so they can run road in the summer and city in the winter or they’re second guessing their decision and they want to go back to the city with their seniority.

There’s several reasons the road makes good money and this is one of them...I say suck it up to the buttercups, ain’t gonna happen!!

You guys are lucky, crossovers wanted to do away with all the bids and have one big extra board.
Didn't happen.
