Not quite sure if he meant investors weren’t interested in safety, as much as other features? Whatever those are. My opinion of the whole autonomous truck is, it appears most of these companies are in a race as to who can get theirs on the road first, but are afraid of the possibility of glitches, and don’t want the competitors to cash in on their engineering failures.March 20: Autonomous trucker Starsky Robotics officially ends its operations

I hope these companies who are going to enjoy higher rates at this time, remember their drivers out there dealing with difficult, and possibly unhealthy conditions, and reward them,($$$)for the effort to keep this country moving.Unexpected load-to-truck ratio a bright spot in dark times

"In fact, judging by DAT’s numbers, trucking is (right now) healthier than it has been for a few years. Load-to-truck ratio (LTR), or the difference between freight availability and trucks’ capacity, is matching the 2018 levels, which as DAT notes, was a “high watermark.”

Don’t understand why so much energy and effort is put into creating reasons its hard to get and keep a driver. “It’s the economy stupid”. Pay them enough and you can get all you want. Can be choosy tooAmerican Trucker Magazine

The argument that so many make about letting the market demand and supply dictate wages and prices etc., is destroyed by this one industry. Can you imagine if especially the OTR carriers in this country, that have a turnover rate of 90 plus percent,
Quit paying recruiters
Quit advertising online for drivers
Quit paying to print literature for handing out.
Quit paying to place decals on trailer doors advertising for drivers
Quit basing a drivers pay saying you can make, up to this much per mile, of course with 20 different strings attached
Quit the BS of your driver, giving the furst 2-3 hours free, before he collects detention.
And
See how much all that money spent on the above adds up to in a year,
and give your current drivers a mileage raise using all that money.
It will never stop turnover, but I would bet the rate would come down.
