Smart Windshields Seen as the New Ad Billboards

Read more at: http://www.ttnews.com/articles/base...utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=newsletter

Automakers, technology companies and glass manufacturers are teaming up to turn the display that graces the front of an iPhone into the windshield of a car — one that can show ads, directions and vehicle information to the person behind the wheel.

Please, say no to ads on the windshield. Absolutely not.
So CB's, cell phones, iPods, etc..., are all considered distractions but lets put advertisements on the windshield for drivers to watch!!! :idunno:

I've heard of some pretty stupid ideas before. Most stupid ideas I've heard either came from a drunk or the government.

But I must say, this is an absolutely ridiculous idea. I'm all for a smart windshield that can HELP you. But the last thing we need is a thirty second ad every time we start our vehicles or something.

TRB Subcommittee Wants Help From Carriers on FMCSA Alternative Compliance Research

Read more at: http://www.ttnews.com/articles/base...ers-on-FMCSA-Alternative-Compliance-Research-

"The proposed methodology of alternative compliance has been controversial in the trucking industry, especially among independent operators and their trade association, the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association.

American Trucking Associations supports the idea of finding ways to reward carriers that have voluntarily adopted tools and technologies meant to improve safety.

The sticking point has been finding a way to incentivize trucking companies to exceed regulatory expectations. So far, the agency has proposed that the program create a new CSA Beyond Compliance BASIC category that would show up in carriers’ CSA scores."

Oh, but driver... That will only be the beginning. Then there will be ads encouraging you to stop in at the truck stop at mile marker XX, and of course the topless diner at mile marker YY. All of this will be said to pay for your critical infrastructure, don't ya know? :poke:
Don't forget the Trojan Man ad warning you to wrap your rascal before you wrestle with the lot lizards...and they're now on sale, free with the purchase of a 64% oz drink!!

Indicators: Freight volume on the upswing

"Van freight surged in the month, climbing 10 percent from November and 5.2 percent from last December. The load-to-truck ratio for the segment also shot up, DAT notes, to 3.8 loads per truck — an imbalance that should put upward pressure on rates, DAT says."
Not doubting any of this info you post Swamp, but I measure LTL volumes based on how many companies have peddle, and road drivers sittings home hoping to work that day. In the last 6 months, just about every driver I run into daily say they have people sitting at home..

Another Volvo recall? Not good for business.

You'll Soon Be Able to Pick Up FedEx Packages From Walgreens - FORTUNE

http://fortune.com/2017/01/11/fedex-walgreens/

"FedEx (fdx) said on Wednesday it had signed a multi-year deal with drugstore operator Walgreens Boots Alliance (wba) that will add about 8,000 Walgreens stores as points of service delivery."

"One key benefit of such services is that shippers can leave a package when someone isn’t home to accept it, thereby lowering the number of failed delivery attempts, which are costly to the likes of FedEx and UPS and create backlogs."
