keep up with the news on TB.

Wow, I can keep busy all day with the Washington DC forum...glad I got the time..
By the way, I'd hate to be in the trucking business (labor or management) in any of those areas that are hit with the 'peaceful" protests...Wow...

I guess the nationwide quarantine is now over?

I think I'd have COVID-19 symptoms and take sick days...or vacation for a while..OR retire?

I'm staying off the Wash, DC. forum for a while. Too much vitriol....cartoon memes,...insults,....and general angry stupidity.....
I'll wait until the current boiling pot simmers back down........

Yes,....I'm glad I'm not working either. I'd be butting heads with management over sanitizer,...gloves,...cleaning trucks,....

I'd find,...and be wearing an "Organize With Teamsters" face mask,....and be wearing it everywhere the First Amendment allows,.....which is Everywhere.....

I'd have so much sanitizer on my hands,..I'd be leaving a shiny gloss on everything I touch.....

Don't send me to a food warehouse,...where they want me to sort and segregate, while the receiver sits on his fat butt and reads a newspaper,..while I struggle with a 2,000 lb. skid and a pallet jack......
I might have a real severe coughing attack,....Have to drop my mask to...blow my nose ...repeatedly and often.......

And...Home Deliveries?...I want shoe covers,....In some cases(filthy homes...) I'd want a full suit paper coverall,...with face shield....Maybe an oxygen tank.......

Company's glad I'm retired, too......One less Pain In The Ass........

I was barred from about 5 food DC's because I refused to sort & segregate when I was not paid the going rate by my company. Funny thing though, they did NOT refuse the freight. They unloaded it & said never to return. I went round & round with my employers over a 10 year period. I told them they pay me what I thought was fair or fire me. 2 did. The rest gave me runs with a express com-check or another load I did not have to fingerprint. What started it with me was Sysco wanting a well rapped & stacked load put on their size wood. I refused. I said sign the bills refused & I would take the freight they ordered & return it. They barred me, but, they wanted that freight. Now days I hear a lot of grocery loads are never touched by a driver. HOS & & being a tired driver drives that. von.

An O2 tank? What are ya gonna do in the house? Calisthenics? Or once you assemble their rowing machine, are ya gonna go crew for Boston College? If you do, based on the video of them rowers I have seen, ya gonna need 2 bottles. von.

We have a few of those DC’s in my area. One was very strict on breaking down the pallets so that all the (tiny) cartons were ‘countable’. I argued NUMEROUS times with the dockhands there that it warranted a ‘Sort & Segregate’ assessorial charge. They didn’t wanna hear it. So...I took it upon myself to start checking that box on the handheld for every DR that I sorted and segregated. That lasted about two months until I finally got a sternly-worded message from one of our billing clerks about checking that box. I have no idea how we’re handling it now, but you can bet our ‘shop steward’ is on it. Oh, wait...he’s a steward ‘in name only’. Plus, he rarely did that delivery. (Long...exasperated...sigh).

A few years ago I had a load of frozen green beans going to a Kraft Food Service whse. some where in the Democratic Republic of Massachusetts. Skidded to their specs, told me they wanted the cardboard removed from between the pallet and the freight. Not too long later I got a Police escort off the property and took the load to C&S in Brattleboro Vt., 45 minutes later on my way..
 
When I was an O/O,...I had a load for Farmer Jack in ...Lansing?..I think. Arrived on time,...held for four hours,...and then told to come back two days later.
My...semi-polite... request about any sort of delay pay,...was met with snorts of derision....

I took the load to a self storage facility,.....hand unloaded it into two units,...took all day,......
and then informed the shipper where their load was,,,why it was there,.....and if they wanted the keys,......they needed to pay for the load, the storage,...and my time....

Took a lawyer, and about 6 months......but I got my money. Know your Lease!

Canary... hey buddy! I see you found the time to be on the Wash, DC forum! How'd that happen? Did the stimulus check buy more time? LOL

Yes,..yes,.....I am now pounding my head on the desk.......Polite discussion of Opinions is one thing,...Insults, obscene re-tweets, partisan memes, and re-posting of various "news" sites with agendas,.......
....is merely sinking to the bottom of the political cesspool......
You and I probably have differing Opinions,.....But i will try to understand your Opinion and why you feel that way...
I figure you're at least as old as me,....and since you were in trucking,..a "trial-by-fire" occupation , if ever there was one,....you have reasons for how you think....
As do I.......

In fact,.....Us truck drivers are probably the most Opinionated working people in the World....
in the '60's,'70's, '80's, we had CB radios...........ANYONE with an IQ of 40 or above,...could publicly voice any "pronouncement" they wanted,...with an audience.....
Now,....we have "social" media..........which is anything but ....social....

I personally am wildly rich and handsome..but I got ya...I am also SMART..
.3 for 3...If I were a MLB baseball player, they'd have to pay me about $30 mil/year and then I'd probably still complain. By the way, I personally don't care if any pro sports come back.
I read this morning that when it starts back, there will be plenty of players on their knees protesting during the national anthem...I just can't stand the thought..
