just started at con-way and found out that after 90 days i will have catastrophic insurance coverage for 1 yr before i will be able to get real insurance. the catastrophic insurance has a benefit max of 10,000 dollars so i guess if you have a heart attack your ass is bankrupt. 15 months to get signed up for regular health insurance is really screwed up. i've never heard of any company not getting you into their insurance plan within 2-3 months and also 3yrs to top pay. wow

guess you hafta kinda look at it like what did you have before you started. also did you not ask about it before you accepted employment

What do you want for 5 bucks?, Your getting medical and precscription's for you and your family. Yes you'll have to wait for the dental, but the eye care you can probally find cheaper at lense crafters, just show your medical card and they will discount you;)

i don't want anything for 5 bucks, what i'd like is after 90 days to have the opportunity to have the same insurance coverage that you have. i've never even heard of a job that takes this long for full coverage insurance to be offered. i may have to give this job up because of this. i want to give this an honest effort, but this may be a reason that i can't

it is getting harder and harder just to find a place that even wants to help pay for any coverage. you might want to hang in there or talk to someone there. it used to be 5 yrs. to top pay, but look at what you start at.

I don't think your understanding your coverage. I don't think it has a cap, but does have an out of pocket maximum of $5000 each person. You need to go back and read it again. Also you didn't mention the fact that its only $5 a week for family coverage. Not clear where your from, but top pay in the South is in 3 years. And the North or old Central tops out in 5 years.

The insurance has a $500 deductible and pays only 70%. My information says there is no cap. I think the out of pocket maximum is $10,000.

You've got prescription coverage.

And when Obie gets his bill signed into law, this insurace will cost you about $30 a week.

Obama Care is law now,our health care will go up more than 30.00 a week! Hope we can appeal this **** poor bill,it's gonna bankrupt the country!

thanks guys, maybe i misunderstood what they were telling me. what you are telling me sounds more believable than what i thought they were saying. i just couldn't understand having insurance that the maximun payable benefit was 10,000, but if that is maximun out of pocket expense to you is not that bad. i was concerned about what if you had a heart attack or something and wound up owing a big hospital bill and they only pay 10,000 max. many thanks

[/quote]Daydreamer, calm down and take a deep breath, before you do have a heart attack. At least you have a job and that means everything right now. Hell I am retired and have a $7500 deductible on myself and my wife each. I never worked for Conway, but things will only get better and better for you. Count your blessings my son.

All I can say to that is you had better go out an buy a big tube of KY. If it only cost you $30 a week, we will be lucky.

IIRC in certain large metro areas it was three years to top pay instead of the normal five.

I think it was due to the competition for drivers. Some of the big metro areas have a large union presence. Back in the day who would come here and endure five years when they could go to a union carrier and reach top pay sooner.

This the way it was explained to me...whether it is correct or not is another matter.

I recently (Dec. 09) went to the eye doc for reading glasses. Used my "Cadillac" plan and ended up paying nearly $300 for the doc visit + glasses = $325. So the "Cadillac" plan paid $50 for me! Plus they got me a "discount"!!! And yes, my deductible had been met. :nono:

Something is not right there. I recently went to the eye doc and spent $300+ for exam and new glasses. I turned it in and received my check for $150. I think the plan pays $150 every two years if I am not mistaken.
