I know RULES RULES RULES , but really upper management & union needs to rethink the rules on no part-time drivers , because we can't hire drivers and they are using shiny wheels to move loads , so why not explore the option of hiring PT company drivers to work 2-3 days a week ? Just pay them the higher non-union pay scale with no benefits ! Point is the freight has got to move one way or another ! Maybe time for company & union to think outside the box ????

Higher wages, and no benefits? Careful what you ask for partner. Don’t set a precedent.

When your overtime is gone because guys working for sub standard pay and or benefits are eating up those hours it might make shiny wheels look pretty good?

Casuals?
What a concept!
:17142:
Have NO casuals , everybody being put on board & running em 60 plus hours and casuals can't say no to being called in & being forced to 60 plus hours , where a pt guy it is hired as only that pt 2-3 days week not 60 plus hours .

Only talking pt drivers here , as think company pt drivers would be better than shiny wheels moving our freight ? just a idea only & open for anybodies ideas or opinions on how to move the freight ??

How is a casual unable to say "no"? The whole idea of working as a casual is that you're working when you're available. If the company is "forcing" casuals to work excessive hours then somebody in management need to have their heads examined.

Our possible new President will be opening up the Borders for immigrants. Including illegals.
Did you see how overjoyed Wall St was and why?
They see labor rates coming down and China pulling millions of higher paying jobs.
The shinny wheels will be the least of your problems...

Still point is , they will not let people work part time , instead they hire "Shiny Wheels" to move the freight ?? :duh:

Be careful what you wish for. Creating "part time" positions can have long term negative effects. Remember what happened with "wage progression"?

Not wishing for it, just saying that maybe they need to start thinking outside the box on ways to move freight , because they will never raise wages in order to hire drivers !
