Sounds bad

Sounds bad for the teamster rank and file. I hope the drivers based out of the centers slated to close can find positions in other terminals rather than be laid off.

Times are getting tough.

I sure hope Holland gives them a better deal than they gave Red Star guys.We had to submit job applications only to be told we weren't good enough for Holland. Hope Reddaway people fare better.

Dirtball I am not sure what they are telling the the 6 Terminals at Holland that are closing. But the ones that are closing at Reddaway are not even close to a Holland terminal. We do not operate in those states. And as you can see on a map the 6 terminals at Holland that are closing are on the southern boarder of the system.

Gee, I hope everything's going to be okay . . .

not a good day at ALL!!!

As the former Road Steward of the Metter, Ga. terminal I will definitly agree with that. There are some real good guys at that place and I hate to see this happen to them. The timing stinks worst of all. Where else is there to go and stay a Teamster? They are difinitly in a tough spot at a wrong time. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of them.

I'm getting damned tired of these old accusations against Holland for the demise of Red Star when anyone with reasonable intelligence knows YRC orchestrated the shut-down and reconciliation package as a prelude to the buyout. I find it odd that when you talk to Dugan drivers hired by Holland they're happy as hell, but the some of the Red Star guys are still wishing for the 70's powerbase the Union once held..... What's past is past guys, get over it and worry about our future.
Most of Reddaway is NON-Union and I imagine given a deal like Dugan's people They will be as happy to join.
The six centers in Holland probably employ less than 25 union brothers each and most (all?) are in the Southern Conference giving them bumping rights under "suitcase seniority". The Change of operations will allow some to be absorbed into terminals who will be expanding service areas to cover sales regions covered by the closed terminals.
If you need to point a finger, point it at YRC's (mis)Managment and what they've done to take a historically very profitable Regional LTL Carrier (Holland) and turn them into a clone of a barely profitable YRC company. All done by a bunch of Corporate Goons who don't give a damn about producing a saleable product, just stock prices.
Yellow has a long history at being successfull by just keeping it's head above water by climbing up on the competition and drowning them in the process.
In other words.... STOP B****ING ABOUT HOLLAND, and take aim at the real asses who did it to you Red Star guys! They did to Holland too!!!!

Just a note to tell my brothers in Metter, Ga I'm thinking of you. If you indeed do get closed I think the company will be losing some damned good people. I didn't get down your way often but looked forward to Metter being a layover point as I always felt you guys (both union and management) treated us open board linehaul drivers top notch!
Hope everthing works out for all my Brothers & Sisters down there.

There will be NO change of operations. They are discontinuing service to those areas entirely. They say that YRC will serve those areas with other companies in the North American group.

how many guys are at that terminal
how about the others as well
are they mid size, small or very large
i'm curious

Holland in Greenville/Spartanburg

They closed the terminal in Duncan, and moved the entire operation into the very large Roadway terminal south of the city. As far as I have heard, it was just a location change and not leaving the area.
