Oak Harbor Teamster Offer to Return to Work!

The company wanted the Union gone, period. That is not going to happen. Either the members go back to work or that company will cease to exist. It is their choice at this point.

If the union wants you to go back to work and they open up negotiations again, you don't get that chance. If you don't go back to work, you lose it all. Including your right to strike.

I guess you showed them, great timing for a strike. Hopefully you at least get to go back as nothing was being solved in the current conditions. Maybe time to start questioning the Union ??
Seems they risked the paycheck that feeds you and solved nothing. You can always keep working under the old rules until something is settled, now they show a weak hand.

I can see how it could look that way but some good did come out of the strike. Oak Harbor did lose alot of business and maybe next time they won't surface bargain.
In the short time frame of only 4 months, they lost what took years to build. Next time we are at the table, they will remember how quickly business can be lost and hopefully bargain in good faith ( if they accept this return to work).

ulp's and economics aside the vp's have proved that they had plenty off money to waste. that also proves to me that they lied about numbers for years. regardless of who initiated the strike the vp's could have come back early on with another offer that would have been more of a compromise. A FAIR compromise. This could have been resolved in a week. but because of their inability to respond to what their employees needs and concerns were they allowed this to reach this point. Whether or not we got to see the offer is irrelavent because the union knew what they were already. Since the vp's really did not care what the members wanted, they continued to shove their proposal down our throats, with such blatant disregard. All I want is fairness, you want to eliminate the sick pay be fair give a wage increase of the same equivalent so I can create that savings, do not cheat me out of benefits already established. I know I saw your lame excuse on the answers page, it all about numbers. The only reason people did not get the most out of the benefit was your refusal to allow first day use. Period. Plus now we know they are going to cry about not having any money. So we are hosed either way! In my opinion!!

If they refuse to allow the strikers to return they will have violated the terms of their settlement agreement with the NLRB, as a consequence they may be required by court order to cease operations, at that point, they will no longer be allowed to operate with replacement workers. Hence the "cease to exist". If this happens all strikers will be allowed to file for unemployment insurance.

Doh :duh: I should have chose to hold a picket sign. :smilie_132: As Dad strolls back in to work with a great big:grinning-smiley-021 And Soon and very soon it will be done and the Real teamster workers will be back in their rightful spots and the Well (you know who) will be:17: like a red headed step child that just had his toy taken from him. This is great news. The KIDD

NO THE COMPANY WILL NOT CEASE TO EXIST--- REGARDLESS IT JUST IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. :nutkick:
Dear Mr Major Up What will you do??? Soon you will be with out a job:clap: This strike will end and the boys will be:bananalama: riding in and all your:butt kiss: wont save you now. So good bye dude.

Give up the right to strike??? What is wrong with you? There is no such thing as giving up the right to strike. If they don't go back to work they will lose it all?? Again, what is wrong with you? That is ridiculous. By walking off the job they stated that they would give up their job for the sake of what is right. Doing the right thing. Don't you see that? These people have more guts, heart or whatever you want to call it than you will ever know. The only people with anything to lose at this point is the owners of Oak Harbor. And if they don't get their heads out of their a***s the strike could be called again (if the company does take them back, which is yet to be determined) at anytime. Face it, the company wanted the Union gone and did not succeed. They are the losers here. They will spin all of their press releases and their meetings with employees however they want. But if you haven't heard the voices of the people that had to live with this corrupt company for all of the years then you cannot understand what they went through. I doubt they want you to understand they just want you to go away and let them fight their own battle. I must say it was a fine battle they fought.

I bow down to the Teamsters of Oak Harbor as they deserve the respect of every working person in America. Because of you many corrupt companies will think long and hard before they go to try and pick on the next bunch of Teamsters.

Power to the People!!!!!!!!!!!! Screw the Corporate Executives

memories don't last anymore, the same mistakes are made over and over even though history shows what was right and what was wrong.no one will remember the winner or loser for very long.just a sad fact.

You are probably right. But we will remember and will help to stand up for the next guy.

I guess I have to ask....what was gained ?
The strike caused a loss of business and you say thats good ? 4 months of time knocked down what was built over years...thats good ? If you work there I would think a INCREASE of business would be better for you and the company, that business is what makes the money for your paycheck. Trust me OH corporate did not learn a thing from this, nobody wins here.

Let me guess, the jokeharbor teamsters are claiming victory ?
excuse me but I think management won,
when you come back, most of you will be laided off
step aside from the union brainwashing, tell me what you won
NOTHING

So if the teamsters have lost so much and the almighty VP's have won. What have they gained? No one will win except for those people who stood up and did not swallow when the company said to.

Can you believe these losers??? They want to come back to work for the same (their view) crappy company!! These people are insane! NOTHING has changed!! Why come back to work now??? HUH???Stay away you clowns!! Get yourselves some floppy shoes!! Company doesn't want you,all of us that work don;\'t want your spoiled behinds around after four months of actively undermining the company!! If the company is sooo bad...WHY would you want to come back? I guess having a rational argument with insane people is fruitless....

We wanted our jobs but with some respect ,dignity ,work rules ,and wages that we have earned and deserve. I guess you were right when you stated rational arguments with insane owners are fruitless.

None of you guys know anything about what goes on behind the scenes. Both the company and the Teamster workers suffered greatly during this strike. There is a point when both sides know that they will destroy each other, that time has come. The only real losers:loser: are the ------! They can all go to HELL!
