FedEx Freight | What is your main reason to vote in a union at FedEx Freight ?

I never made a comment about his, mine, or anyone else's happiness at fedex. I was referring to his past posts about the union and how he is ill-informed about the union. Thats not degrading thats pointing out his lack of knowledge.

No, that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. Just because someone doesn't agree with your view points, doesn't make them any less informed than you. Give it a rest.

I think he is saying you don't work for FedEx so what do you know about being happy at FedEx?

Why is it that a no vote means they are misinformed? Why must the no voters respect your union status and opinion but when they express their decision, you degrade or put them down as ill-informed? People with your attitude don't help your drive.

Guardrail

"organizing 101" to use their own term. Your a kool-aid drinker if your not drinking horse **** from the golden goblet with your union buddies. And it's a shame because it perpetuates the very stereotype of rock throwing bat whelding goons they used to be. Maybe a leopard can't change its spots after all. :bat:

Please cite your source with a link. While 208 and 357 may have represented some terminals, 396 DID in fact represent others.

They were one of the major Intrastate LTL's at the time. Yes, they were the ones with the little red gears for a logo.

From: Industrial Freight System of Sun Valley, Calif., Files Chapter 11. (Originated from Traffic World) - Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News | HighBeam Research emphasis is mine:

"The continuing economic slump in California combined with stiffening competition among West Coast regional carriers caused a major Western LTL carrier to declare for Chapter 11 reorganization late last month.

Industrial Freight System, Sun Valley, Calif., filed for reorganization Aug. 31, according to president Michael P. Gamel, <snip>Besides Industrial, the nine major truckers in the California LTL market (shown with ownership) are: Con-Way Western Express (CF); Crescent Truck Lines (private); Di Salvo Trucking (private); G. …"

May not have been on your radar, or large enough for you to consider them a powerhouse, but that's irrelevant. The point is, I was challenged to name a single LTL carrier that was represented by 396. I did.
Those old locals represented ALL freight companies in SO-CAL. They had jurisdiction for all freight companies, not just a few.

my main reason to vote NO is I'm happy and I'm very well informed!

Truth is you're a no vote because you get special treatment.
When was the last time you worked late on a Friday?
When was the last time you drove a straight truck?
When was the last time you took out a run where every stop didn't have a dock?
Truth is you don't want all your years of ass kissing to go to waste and would be pissed off if you were put on equal footing with the rest of us.
You are one of the laziest drivers at CIN and you aren't fooling anyone.

Come October when it's open enrollment for healthcare and the rates go up and we'll see less of that raise might open a lot more eyes and the no might turn to yes i work to hard for less !! That's reason enough! !!

Bump: for newbies to read these threads. And there really are new people trying to get real info... It's getting hard to dig through the huge number of threads, started out of sheer brilliance, many with little or know value. If I were a moderator, I'd move many stand alone threads into to the appropriate existing thread, and combine threads that are related into 1. Rather than have hundreds of single thought, one line, threads. end rant...

driver payscale is done this way no matter what company you work for, and its only fair. we have guys paying $8,000 to $15,000 per year in property taxes in my area so our pay should reflect the high cost of living in our area. A guy in mississippi most likely pay $1200.00 per year if that.

work rules that are in place with out being changed to benefit fedex only. lower cost heath insurance, let us drive and hire full time dock workers. set yearly raises instead of memphis deciding if we get one or not and how much, even when they make a huge profit. Not being disqualified for forgetting to shut my tractor off or wearing my seat belt.

Good reasons, all...

Union!

I would like to ask a question that might help unite FedEx one way or another. If everyone would respond honestly and seriously it might help.

What are the main reasons for wanting the union? It can't be the way you are treated because LTL is high pressure and everyone has to man

up and understand that. Is it wages, benefits, retirement, contractors and rail taking all the good paying runs while drives sit home.

Does the company have their little favorites instead of going by seniority. In my opinion these are pretty good reasons for going union.

FedEx is a huge company and no reason why they can't take some of that money out of their pockets to pay a decent retirement and 401.

Just remember you are the company. If the majority is happy then everyone will have the answer when you vote. But at least vote and then

go on with your career or move on. That is why we at UPSF voted for the union and I haven't regretted it one bit...

Not trying to stir anything up just want to see all drivers get what they deserve. It is a dangerous job out there and we all deserve better than we got.

I think these companies are starting to get it with the driver shortage that is becoming a real threat to companies survival...

skeeter there is a huge difference, between ups buying overnite and the union falling in your lap, and what fed ex freight is about to go through. maybe you should answer this one "truthfully" and this would be a WAY BETTER comparision. when you worked at overnite, were you a yes vote or no vote for the union? becuz if you were a no vote, then you might as well retract your last statement, but if you were a yes vote, then carry on and I apoligize. what fed ex is guna go thru will break up long time friendships over a vote, but you know that, you are an old overnite hand......

To have a appeal if there was a driving accident or issue instead of safety manager saying your at fault and that's final. Corp. can just change rules when they want and we have to eat it. Seniority issues why roomies get 12-13 hours a day while veterans that ask to work more and are told there is no more work. Upper management can have contracts with fed ex but preach to us they are no good!!!! Just to name a few
