FedEx Freight | Pocono

It seems to me when pleny of other businesses charge more when bills go up.
Lots of stuff I pay for have gone up.
My dogfood went from a constant $6 to a constant $9.
Coffee from $6 too $12.......
Yet somehow in this business we operate at constant discounts.
How about ya start thinkin like all those I pay.

Let's not forget the HUGE power of negotiated rates! The Teamster's shear numbers, make the rates for such good insurance affordable, for the company. Kind of a win/win.

As far as I know there is nothing to negotiate,(as far as rates go) I believe the Teamsters are self insured just like Fedex. They have a fixed across the board cost of insurance per member. And some Teamsters in some contracts do pay some of their health care costs. That's something I tried to explain when I first started posting in here and I was saying you don't what you will get for sure, and none of us know what the future hold as far as health care. I know when they negotiate my contract rising healthcare costs are always a factor and it greatly affects my pay, because the company pays so much per hour I work to health and welfare. When they're at the negotiating table they don't really care about our rising health care costs, they just want to know what this is going to cost them per hour. It's then up to the union to divide that increase up across all obligations. And trust me the union will fund its self before your raise, we've even had to give money back during a contract term because costs were going up and they can't go to the employer and ask for an adjustment during a contract so we have to do it ourselves.

Worried about what? I took the higher wage in exchange for a crappy insurance plan. I'm financially equal if I meet the maximum out of pocket for the family and better off when I don't.
I don't know what to tell you....

The Ground employees WILL have to have insurance. Employees of owner operators WILL Zhave to have insurance. They and their employers WILL have to be men with resposibility like the rest of us and our employers. Theyll have to make sure this trade provides it or money to cover it. No more dragging the rest down. The strong will survive.

Amazing, your trying to tell us Obama care is going to eliminate free loading... PRICELESS!!!!

So now you're saying that Obamacare will force companies to offer insurance to subcontarctors?

Wow I have no idea where to start. I'm sorry, but with all due respect you have no idea what you're talking about. How where they "dragging us down"?

But FedEx has made adjustments so they can afford our insurance. Didn't you read the article on the fantastic first quarter results? "Meanwhile, FedEx has lowered the cost of its pension, post retirement, health care and other employee benefits by 13 percent compared to the same quarter last year, to $3.3 billion."

Common sense tells me that when ya have a bunch of people who have great pay and bennies and wofkrules.....and in comes a bunch willing to settle for less...that the market will decide to go for less....Thats how China just took #1 largest economy from us....and a whole lot of great jobs, benefits and workrules to. Its what happened to the union companies after deregulation to....the market is only happy when it results in communism providing it seems. How far down the road do you want to go?
Either Americans decide in their workplace with unions and take the government back for themselves ....or corporations will have us living as communist Chinese...

Common sense tells me that China took the number one economy because of your union's high labor cost and your union loving liberal's ideology and love for increased taxes, thus driving companies and jobs from this country.
Thanks to your union loving liberals in govt today, they've already transitioned our country from capitalism to socialism and everyone knows socialism is just a step toward communism....thus my new name for the union loving liberal democrats - Commucrats!

Have you ever been out of this country?? Do you know what third world countries live like?.. Unions didn't drive the work out of this country, big business did and you really don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.. If the union people are as you call them Commucrats Then what are people like you with your hatred of the union?? just plain Rats??

Yes and yes.
Nope, not a rocket scientist...but I do have common sense and have several friends who are business owners. Between the high cost of meeting govt regulations and the high labor cost associated with labor unions, it's actually cheaper for companies to either move out of the country and pay the taxes to import their products back into the U.S. or move to Mexico or Canada and take advantage of NAFTA.

If you want to "blame" someone, you can blame the govt and the labor unions.

FedEx's responsibility is to earn a profit for its shareholders, NOT to provide you with a job, affordable healthcare, a pension, etc...
If you feel you "deserve" these things, I'm sure you can find employment elsewhere...
