FedEx Freight | Are we merging or not?

Re-registered for this, but I heard earlier this morning CCI had some big wigs show up to discuss this topic. I'm not sure if it's to squash it or confirm it bout I do know that FXN biggest hub is right down the street from the freight terminal.

No matter what it's all about, we should for sure know by this evening...

does anybody know how many road drivers there are in the cincinnati fxn terminal

Playing devils advocate, they could pick out people who are low performers and have attendance issues and dismiss their services from either company using a major restructure as the means to get rid of them.

We have a new mechanic at our shop. I asked the shop foreman if they hired another mechanic. He said no he's from National. They are going to start servicing National tractors in our yard. I guess they can park their tractors next to ours while they all wait for parts.

We have been having their equipment going through our shop for awhile now. Usually the shop uses their tractors to move trailers in and out of the shop

Alright guys, word from Ohio says that Fedex national is being merged with freight. National terminals will be split and spread among freight terminals according to size and room.

The worry was seniority and they say that national employees will be given the July 1st 2007 seniority date which was when Fedex bought Watkins.

Good luck to all....

So its official now or is it still rumors? Does the national employees seniority apply to all drivers or just line? If all national drivers get July 1st 2007 then I'll get bumped to the bottom of the ladder again cuz my hire date is Dec 2009. I may be screwed when this whole thing takes affect.

ohhhhhh Bull Crap...your full of it.:chairshot:

Well that was actually a possibility, job class would start on July 1st 2007 but when in came down to order they used Watkins seniority to get the number 1 guy on down

But as I found out tonight, the merge won't be using July 1st, they are actually going to dovetail job class seniority over to freight..

Which to each his own, but I find that to be totally wrong, I know it's going to suck for someone but why would a smaller company who got bought out be given the advantage??

Ohwell... Only 7 hours left before it's announced to public.. (7:45est)

So now they are going to be able to dovetail? That is a bunch of crap. I put over 5 years in the city to get a chance to come over to the road and went at the first chance I could. And now will be getting knocked down by people who have worked for the company for less time just because they hired in on the road. Ill fight like hell and be the biggest as* if that happens.

Years are a little different but I'm in same boat as you. I don't see how they can punish the company that was bigger, better, and pretty much the savior of the past two years running all their freight. Anyone who has seen both operations could tell you the night and day difference...we shall all know in 4 hours

Wow, You guys are a trip. I have one ? would you fill the same way if the shoe was on the other foot. And Hillbilly, why would you become an a**, We are all in this together now. And just to be clear, we were making money with little to no problems until we were bought out. I hate this as bad as anybody, but, I'm not going to be an a**hole to none of my fellow drivers. But do you all mean to sit there and tell me if you got 10 years in that FEDEX recognizes that you would not want to dove tail in. I doubt it. This is going to effect a little over half the people in some way or the other and I for one am sorry if it bumps any body down but that's the way it is and I think you would do the same.

either way, it ain't gonna be pretty. I know in my neck of the woods there are national guys with 20+ years of seniority. And I know that there are a pile of 15+ year freight guys that think they're Gods gift to FedEx and trucking that will be really, really chapped if they get bumped off their runs by a red-headed stepchild. But on the other hand, it would be profoundly unfair if a national guy with 20+ years in looses his job all together because there simply are no positions open at freight. Around here, we might be able to absorb 1 or 2 city guys and 1 or 2 road guys but, that's it. One way or another someone is going loose their job.
