The article says that FedEx will cut 1000 management type jobs worldwide from all divisions
This should be good news for drivers (both road and city) at FedEx Freight.
We are going to have to get by with less bosses and supervisors until, the economy says that we can rehire them again.
Well , Now stop and think a minute ....How many Red Shirts do you see walking around holding a clipboard doing NOTHING ? How many stnd on the ramp smoking cigs and drinking coffee ? How much money can Fedex save by doing away with this ?
It only mentions Express & Freight. I guess Ground & National don't have enough people looking over their shoulders.
Mass layoffs continue. FedEx Corp. said Thursday it's planning an undisclosed number of job cuts as the company reported its fiscal third-quarter profit dropped 75 percent amid severe weakness in the global economy. The Memphis, Tenn.-based company, often seen as a bellwether for the U.S. economy, also plans to scale back some workers' hours and wages.
This is a paragraph out of the msnbc article I posted.
belive the whole just managment thing when i see it

exactly what does this mean? " reduce network capacity " Does it mean take more equipment out of service? Or something more sinister? It almost sounds like an oxymoron. You would think we would want to be at maximun capacity.

I check out trucking boards almost daily, just to see whats new out there. As you can probably see by my status, I hardly ever post or respond to other post. However I felt compelled to voice my thoughts on the responses that are being left on this particular thread. I could not in all sincerity be glad that anyone is getting laid off ( be it a red shirt or driver). I dont know what barns these gleefull drivers are from, and what kind of sup's you have, but my experience at my barn (Toledo,Ohio) is that we have a good group of redshirts, that I'd stand behind anyday. Don't wish upon anyone what you wouldn't wish upon yourself.
