If you take the union dues and add them to the insurance prem. you are paying about $10.00 less per week. Lets do the math $10.00 x 52 weeks = $520.00 x 5 years = $2600.00 401 k match based on $60,000 per year $ 60,000 x 6% = $1800.00 x 5 years $9000.00 Safety bouns $300.00 per year x 5 years = $1500.00 $9000+$1500= 10500-$2600= $7900.00 less for the length of the contract. :TR10driving03:Plus the insurance we have now sucks compared to non union insurance I had before :chairshot:

show me a fund that pays 6% right now.I bet there are a lot of non union co. that would hire you. you should start looking for a non union driving job so you can get that back.

Most 401K lost 35-40% of there value this year. So all you money is gone and it will take a long time to just break even. If you think you would be getting a raise or no increase in insurance payments you are just plain crazy. It's a free country, go work for Fedex, oh I forgot, they have had there pensions frozen, lost there 401k match and are getting no raises this year..

My road run was a double turn where I would sit for free for 7-10 hours a week. Post contract my pay went up on avg 150 a week gross. Thats 150 x 52 = $7800 x 5 yrs = 39,000. Now I am laid off but because I have seniority I bumped into the city and I am still working 30-45 hrs plus I keep my health ins. I would not have been able to bump to city without the contract. I too miss the 401k match but I am better off so far with this contract, lame as it may be in some areas.

There are 5 non Union UPS freight terminals, ours is hiring, we still have our 401K match, Insurance is 23.00 A week(Family), Road drivers have a .180 cent pm raise, hourly just got a .70 cent raise,we get paid holidays, and NO ONE has been layed off!! BTW, K.C just lost 6 team jobs to CRST, word has it UPS wants to rail and contract all runs over 600 miles and do away with the teams. These drivers (that want it ) are bumping full time dock workers to part time, thats the other thing, UPS will save loads of money reducing everyone on the dock to part time, look at their model for success (the parcel side) They Rail, run contacts and part time the whole work force, the only secure jobs will be city P.U.& D and feeder drivers (short Haul).

At my service ctr you could have bumped into the city b/4 the contract and would have dove tailed back when freight picked back up.:1036316054:

I was working for a non union job for 22 years I wish the people that voted for the union would have went to a union company like yellow or roadway. I hope that ups wont end up in same finacial shape there in

None of theis has anything to do with union/non-union. It is a UPS thing.

What state do you live in that you only paid 23.00 family coverage???

Maybe with the union we can fix the BS pention plan the company offers. You forgot to mention how great the pention plan is for a non-union UPS Frieght, at least we have an chance to make it better.

As for the match they traded the for retiree health coverage. That is something most don't have.

We had it but it cost more but it also was better coverage The insurance we have now sucks if you go in the hospital and admitted you must pay the first $500.00 plus 15% of the bill up to $1500.00 per person the old insurance I had cost $100.00 for my wife to be there 7 days
