We've seen this before...a senior manager leaves and takes a few friends with him. Big whoop. There's no reason for FedEx to waste money buying Viagra freight. We already have a Canuck division. So dream on Vitran drivers....

I dont think we dream of fedex buying vitran. If i wanted to work for purple i would've applied there. It just sucks being kept in the dark. If they wrer to sell i doubt they would take all the drivers anyway.
 
I have to laugh when I think back to when each of these senior managers tried to save every dime they could for the company and to look good for themselves. Then when they depart, they make sure they have received their HUGE bonuses before leaving. The old adage applies, "do as I say, not as I do". Once again, glad I am out of that zoo....
 
I agree with that!!!!! Often had the same thoughts!!!!!!been here 8.5 years and wish i hadnt wasted the first 12 years of my career living out of a suitcase running everywhere and makin peanuts for pay. Being a road driver at fedex isnt the best thing in the world by far but at least i can be home everyday and sleep in my bed and enjoy a little bit of time with my family!!! I USED TO BE A STEEL HAULER TOO!!!!!!!

Is Vitran doing well? If the answer is no the FedEx won't buy them. Why would they put people in place in the U.S. operation if they just want Canada? FedEx does not need the U.S. operation.
 
i read this entire thread and it's making me laugh. at first, there was some joking about the idea of fedex buying vitran and some boasting of how it was'nt going to happen. then many of the key fed ex executives defect and head to vitran overnight and now there's everything from hunches, questions, head scratching and scenerios. even the tone of a few people have gotten defensive in light of these events. lol. seems like alot of you second quessing yourselves at the thought. alot of the vitran drivers have been with the company along time so some of you might get bumped down the seniority list when they dovetail certain terminals. enjoy. :popcorn:
 
I worked at Vitran and alot of those drivers are still there. If I were to guess I'd say half the drivers or a little over have 15 plus years in Milwaukee. Now, there's been some changes with new additions of pjax and Milan drivers so I'm not sure on the total number of drivers anymore both city and road. Hopefully this is all speculation and they dont merge them together, but we are not in the position to make that decision. It's just to bad if something is going to happen they have to keep it a secret AGAIN or try to anyways. All we have to do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst, but there's and outcome for everyone, you just have to find the right one.
 
Oh, 15 years? My that certainly could be a long time, might even get you #2 extra board at my yard, maybe the last shuttle bid. Out here on the left coast long would be quantified as 25 years or more. BIG YAWN......

15 years wouldn't get you a bid spot at our yard. You could hold #4 extra board spot with a man behind you.
