Not sure who your talking to. But when I retire I plan on being in the Florida Keys, Virgin Islands, or Bahamas. I paid my dues to this country I don't owe it anymore. I've got a messed up back, bad knees, nerve damage in my neck, and PTSD. Please tell me how I owe my retirement to this country.

Im talking to our freind above who complains about companies moving overseas but plans on retiring to Canada where he believes he can get more bang for his buck. I dont see the difference.

Just a personal choice. I also have paid my dues to this country, with time spent in American military service (USMC). I am glad that you have so much faith that your healthcare will be taken care of in your old age. Me ? I don't. I prefer a system that works. America used to be the greatest country, but that is fading rapidly. As far as my IBT pension, I earned every dime of it and it is not unusual for retired people to relocate to another country where it is more advantageous for them. Nothing illegal, immoral or fattening about it. Keep waving that flag, I'm sure it will go far when you are old and sick and you see how much Social Security gives a damn about..

Alls Im saying is dont complain about companies going offshore in their own interest when you are doing the same exact thing. Nothing immoral about it right? You obviously have not spent any time in Canada. I was born there and have used the Canadian and American healthcare systems. (I have been a naturalized citizen for many years, still retain my dual citizenship). A lot of what you hear about the Canadian healthcare system is totally untrue. Healthcare was/is easily available at any clinic you choose. Physicians are excellent and closely regulated, and you DO have a choice what doctor you see. Co-pays run around $5-10 per visit and the quality of care is excellent. Prescriptions are readily available and MUCH cheaper than any you will find in the states. As far as waiting for critical health issues, it just doesn't happen. Sure, I suppose if you need something like non critical cosmetic elective surgery, it could be denied or at the very least you would have to wait. But no-one I knew in my province ever died from any lack of critical care. My relatives still reside there and have no complaints. It's funny how America is supposedly so caring and "progressive", yet we allow people to die everyday from simple ailments simply because they got sick. Cuba and all those supposed "Third World" nations provide a better standard of care than America does. This attitude of it's "I got mine, screw you" works great until you get really ill or injured. And yes, I've heard all those bogus "socialist" claims. When I retire I will take my IBT pension and move back to Canada, because at least I will never have to worry about healthcare in my supposed "golden years"..

That is Canada. Not the United States. We here in the U.S. will never adopt a Government Healthcare Plan. As it stands today in October 2011 we have roughly 53% of our citizens who pay no Net Income tax and use the Welfare system of Food Stamps,Healthcare,Government issued cell phones,and on and on it goes. Our system of Obamacare would more closely resemble Great Britian's because they have a similar Welfare state. With Canada's vast Natural resources you will have funding for at least 2 more generations. We will not allow any Natural Resources to be used to pay for Obamacare. Our President has the mindset of a Third World Dictator... just today he went around the Legislative Process to further cripple our economy.

You can blame New Healthcare if you want, but Healthcare is bound to go up every year. When has it not? If it makes you feel better to blame the guy you hate, go for it. Makes you look simplistic, but go for it.

I don't like paying more either, but that's life people. You can always opt out if you want, so the choice is yours. Just know that when you need it, I'll bet you'll be happy it's there, $250 a month or not. By the way, take advantage of it. Lots of stuff is covered 100% such as preventative care.

Maybe you should take a good look at why we spend more then twice per ca-pita (around the $8,000 mark per year) then any other industrialized nation on health-care yet have 52million people are going with no health care..9 million added in just the last two years ( do to job losses ).....Yet other countries that spend less then half of what we do and ALL there citizens have adequate health-care..

Health-care is a basic human necessity and should not be a publicly traded commodity on Wall Street..Just one of the reasons your seeing marches everywhere.

The cost of everything goes up yearly,its called inflation. But now that we have to insure live in lovers and 26 year olds that dont live at home or attend school it has gone up more. Why dont you defend your guy and tell us why costs havent gone down? He is your guy,defend him.

i expect an increase every year and have no issue with it, but $40 to $215 for my wife and me.. 475% increase seems a bit excessive.. They say spouses cost more then kids.. Maybe so, but i think a better solution could have been found.

Obama said costs would go down,thats the point. And now they are discarding the part of Obamacare that was supposed to make up 40% of the overall savings. Forcing companies to insure people with pre existing conditions is like having a house fire and calling Allstate the next day to take out a policy. I never took the SAT and I can " do the math". If somebody wants to insure their gay lover or 26 year old " kid" that is long out of the house and not in school let them pay for it. Do the math....
