Yellow | Jobs after YRC

There was life after CF and there will be life after YRC. What kind of life depends on waht you want. I was an ops supv and layed off 9/08. I did the stay at home unemployment thing while looking for a job. Nothing was happening except I was sinking into a "funk". Well, I decided to go back to schoool at age (over 50) to complete my degree in Business Administration/Human Resources and I'm throwing in Labor Relations. i think being on both sides of the glass gives me a pretty good perspective. SO..look out. I may be your BA or your labor person in a few years. One lesson we've all learned; be careful who you **** off cause one day he/she may be your boss...
BTY any financial acctg geniuses on here..... I'm trying to understand bond, interest rates, margins etc...I NEED HELP...

An update on the school saga. I aced both my summer classes. Got an A in both Financial Accouting (finally got the whole bond thing) and Organizational Behavior. I'm in my first week of the fall semester. So far I am taking 5 classes for a total of 16 credit hours. My schedule includes: Micoreconomics, College Composition English, Labor Relations Management, HR Law & Business communications. SO, look out Zollars. I will understand economics enough to know that YFS is not making money and why. One of the concepts in Organizational Behavior is if something is not working you have to change it (the board needs to change who's in charge). Ethics is another concept. What are the ethics of YRC? By taking both Composition English and Labor Relations I will be able to write a decent addendum to the contract and lastly I will be able to communicate it. As far as the Human Resource Law I will now have enough knowledge to prove that DB did in fact harass me and all the other employees at a certain Ohio facility by creating a hostile work environment. Look out. There's nothing worse than a college educated smart ***, especially if she is a female.

I hope you can use your smarts to give someone hell!(like YRC and Zollars) :Flame-On:

Just be careful! You know the old saying - "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing"!!

PS - And the knowledge alone is worthless without wisdom!!

I had a "litttle knowledge" now I am gaining a LOT of knowledge and learning how to use it. As far as wisdom, believe me after more than 25 years in the trucking business I have more wisdom than I know what to do with.

Try not to participate in the keg stands, hard on the neck when you fall! Seriously, I hope this works out for you. I wish I would have let uncle sam send me back to school when CF closed. Had I known the future of yeller&big r I would have.

signed art 43 ppwk... 3 weeks ago and Started a line haul run from KC to Columbia to St Louis and back for the Big Hairy Beaver Express Lines. Good Company but it's no Big R.

Nice job, congrats, and keep up the hard work. Sure beats sitting around dying
In a dead end job voting yes for everything that comes down the pike.

I did get out the Bic pens and practice aiming "spit balls". I'm too old to do the keg party thing. Don't recover as well as I used to.

The "hourly" pay is a set load standard. Each load has a set hourly rate. Ex: Charlotte to Fort Mill pays 3 hours at $21.00/ hour. If if takes you 4 hours, you only get paid for 3. Most companies pay for terminal jumps when there is no credit allocation. Usually $15 per jump. The mad drivers are mad for no reason. You can easiliy be making $30/ hr when a store has no allocation.:) I have friends that work for several different gas companies. They all have different pay scales but in the end they all make about the same $. The closer you live to a larger city, the more u can make. If you live in a rural area, hang it up.

I had eight years in at Holland before they closed the terminal. Had another year at Roadway before I got laid off. So I'm done with LTL. But it could be worse.....and it is! After two months of non-stop applications and phone calls I had to take a job at Carolina By Products. It was either that or spend the last of my savings waiting on something else. Hard to comprehend because I have a spotless record. But anyway, I get the priveledge of hauling animal parts that don't make the cut. Guts, heads, feet, etc. Mostly chicken and turkey with the occassional horse and cow. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm blessed to have a pay check, but geeez. I believe in carma, and I'm wandering what the hell I did to deserve this...

THAT has got to be the worst thing I've heard so far. I'm feelin' for you. Makes you want to mix Zollars in with the by-products. I'm worried about ue running out too....spotless record but not many companies interested in hiring union guys.

Moving over to UPSF

Was offered a job @ UPSF today will start Oct.1 in city p&d
Just have to survive the first year or two til the better pay kicks in.

So I can vacation out of YRC, Also they have two guys starting before me that are going thru the training stuff first...

I've been dealing black jack at a casino in Lawrenceburg Indiana. Hollywood Casino, all they want is part timers though, 3 days a week and no benefits aint getting it with two young kids and a wife, and a mortgage etc.... I took a driving test, DOT physical and drug screen for Reinhart Foodservice last week, just waiting for the background check to come back now. It's component pay instead of hourly, delivering to restaurants like subway, and Golden Corral etc... lot's of fingerprinting and getting into tight parking lots but decent pay from what I've seen and steady work. They were very upfront with me in the interview and it seems like they care for their employees, but 5 1/2 years at Yellow CTI have pretty much ruined me on the whole trusting management thing. :shift:

hrly.

P&D, I was told would be $15.05 Part time dock $10.50
Might want to double check with someone in the UPSF land though.
