Brothers and Sisters as you all must know by now UPS Freight is initiating a drawdown in it's freight operations beginning on November 1st to be completely halted by the 9th. Layoffs apparently have already begun at some terminals. This is a common tactic called a lockout. Companies initiate this tactic during a labor dispute to force their agenda. Encourage your shop stewards to notify your business agents and have the union recognize this work stoppage as a lockout. A recognized lockout will entitle you to draw unemployment as long as they keep the gates closed. Once this is recognized by the NLRB you'll be able to file for unemployment and picket lines can begin. Good luck everyone.

Started today fedex already grabbing the freight off my route,NICE JOB MANGEMENT you stupid asses going to give the competition free revenue their is more in logistics than small packages lmao

Call their bluff VOTE NO they are not shutting down Freight division they have to compete with Fedex!

FedEx and or any other company will not take more then they can handle only to jeopardize their core customer service.

OD will, we’re the slowest we’ve been this time in years and can promise you we have plenty of drivers sitting by the phone waiting to work and stacks of mty’s in yards begging to be loaded.

The question is will your customers be willing to pay for our higher priced service?

It’s slowing down in my area, most of our customers are very happy that they were informed of the contract situation and advised to temporarily use other carriers. They applaud UPS for being proactive in not holding customers freight hostage. They are also happy their deep discounted small pack/freight bundle will remain intact.
In the end the contract still sucks, UPS started this mess and regardless of a strike or not, our bottom guys will suffer because of the purging of freight. Some layoffs beginning next week, BEFORE we even vote.
Don’t cave in, take the small hits and stand your ground.

You have to go through the storm to eventually see the sunshine.

Small pack drivers got screwed over by their vote and support us 100%

Meanwhile, everyone seemed to ignore that FxF has been staffing up for the last year, and no one really asked "why?"

UpsF draws very little water in the overall picture. This will weaken them to a point they will never recover.
The customer WILL move his freight with another carrier, and statistically, UpsF will only be able to recoup/recover 44% of it back, after the lockout.

Between UPS's situation, and what's about to happen in April 19',Fx will gain a marketshare percentage that will leave the rest of the LtL world fighting for scraps.

$hit's about to get real.

Don’t look too hard into FXF staffing we are pretty much at capacity even with all the new hiring.

Why don't you think you won't have to pay dues?
If you are on lay-off,or not working full weeks you still have to pay dues to be current for benefits.

Brand new center in Jersey has recently opened, adding doors in Pocono, Breaking ground in New Haven and opening an additional center due to open within months in Jersey. I can assure you that FXF has capacity. I hope you guys can find a way to get through this. We may wear different uniforms but we play the same sport. Best of luck.

Will other union companies ( YRC Companies and ABF , come to mind ) avoid picking up UPS Freight's freight?
