some of us drive through multiple states and multiple highways and weather changes throughout an eleven to fourteen hour span.. weather systems develop and begin dumping snow and ice at times during trips, not just during daytime hours when city drivers work. In the time I have worked at ABF I have shut down 2 times and Driven in Horrible conditions numerous times at slow safe speeds, in ice, snow and in tornado activity, etc. Funny you should challenge me on this tonight.. As we are getting dumped on today.. I took the liberty to research your complaints and on your days in question here is what I discovered for the record:
The Governor did not "shut down the State" "shut down the city" "shut down the county"!! Nor was a state of emergency declared!!
The Mayor did Not do any of the above as well!!
An Emergency Management Plan did go into effect which happens during severe weather!! It was highly advised to not travel by both, employers were highly encouraged to shut down and have employees work from home! Motorists were told to stay off the road so crews could clear roads! According to the Attorney Generals Office, there are only a few instances where motorists or workers cannot be on roads as ordered by the Law.. A snowstorm is not included.. The closest would be an evacuation order.. So your efforts are wrong.. But as I stated before Call off or go in and work at a crawl, return to yard, unsafe, etc...... You do have protections, use them!!! but don't expect to be paid and not perform your job if you show up!!! that's all I am saying,, you don't have to attack me and what I do on the road.. Like I said,, my point was simple,,, If you showed up,, what did you expect? to be sent home with pay? or sit for 8 hours? or deliver freight which is your job? I don't know what you set out to accomplish that day.. I assume each of us is a man and if not safe or whatever, tell the man, I am not coming in.. If he writes a letter, Tell him to stick it up his ass!! Are you a Teamster or not?
