The new volvos aka Fedex beeper torture , they beep way to much for me. I changed bids just to get out of it. Went from beeping all day to just one or two beeps a day.
Just got my new Peterbilt Award tractor, and the various electronic beepers are much more tolerable than anything else we have..
I understand completely. The Pete is a good truck, for the road. Stable, good lines for lane management, outstanding climate control, sound system, better fit and finish, etc. But the Volvo has a better ride, better viability (with the exception of the huge blind spot behind mirrors), more interior room, easier steering, maneuverability, etc. This Volvo has a far superior auto-shift, making for a better day in the city, IMHO.As a road driver swamp I'll take the Pete all day long. I had a Pete 18xxx ,never had one single video recording the whole time I had it. Received a new Volvo same run I've been running for 7 years and you find yourself to turning the beeps into white background noise. Quess what four headways later because I'm not going to sit there and count seconds all day long I switched bids just to get out of it. The guy who took my bid and driving the Volvo now got a headway first week. It just beeps way to much for me at 5 seconds away from something. Beep beep beep all day long. My new Pete may beep twice a day. Got my sanity back.
You can keep the volvos.
What sucks is the Volvo does have a second readout for following distance, but it's a upgrade option and would have a extra button on turn signal arm. The newer Pets's have the air ride cab and I find the ride is about the same between the two. In time the beeping in the Volvo you learn to tune out and that's when it gets you in trouble. 1/10 of a second to close following distance will trigger a videoI understand completely. On these "audible alerts", I wonder why the totally different parameters for triggering the alerts. I get that the Pete has a more sophisticated dash readout, and the seconds shown long before audible is a big plus, taking the guesswork out of the equation. (should probably score 2 points on the whole following distance system). I wonder why the settings are so vastly different. One would think there is an adjustment for uniformity.
If I'm 1.9 seconds for 3 minutes because I've tuned out the beeps it triggers a video hince 1/10 of a secondWe were told you have to trigger the autonomous braking or tailgate for 3 minutes. How does 1/10th of a second trigger the camera?

I'm not here to debate this I'm just saying it triggers a video, you asked and I answered it.So you're 1.9 seconds behind the vehicle in front of you @ 55 mph or higher, and you're ok with that?
Ain't nobody fooled by the name change, my friend. Necessary though it may be!Thanks CF, But...
