School Bus Crashes Into Semi Truck On I-44

GRAY SUMMIT, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) - Update: 11:09 -- FOX 2 has confirmed that students from the St. James High School band have been involved in a two-bus accident. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says they believe there is one fatality and are still working the accident. Several students have been transported to an area hospital after their school bus was involved in an accident with a tractor trailer. It happened just before 10:30 a.m. on Interstate 44 and Highway 100 near Gray Summit. Two school buses are reportedly involved. One of the buses involved was carrying around 50 children. One patient had to be airlifted from the scene to St. John's Mercy Medical Center. The eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 are closed.

I wonder how the truck driver couldn't see what was happening??
Certainly ANY truck driver can SEE A BIG YELLOW VEHICLE approaching?!

I'll say the bus drivers couldn't make it as truck drivers, probably for the same reason.
 
UPDATE :

GRAY SUMMIT, Mo. – Missouri state troopers say the two people killed in a chain-reaction freeway accident involving a tractor trailer cab, two school buses and a pickup truck were a girl on one of the buses and the driver of the pickup.

Authorities say the buses were taking the high school band members from St. James to a Six Flags amusement park when the collision on Interstate 44 west of St. Louis occurred.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the pickup truck slammed into the back of the tractor, which had slowed for traffic near a construction zone near Gray Summit west of St. Louis...................

There is a Pickup under the bus and the back of the truck !

I hope the driver of that Volvo had his log up to date. Sounds like he was rear ended by the pick up and then by the 2 busses.
 
CA bus drivers are borderline psychotic at times honestly, doesn't help that the C cars are too making the job difficult for everyone. But so many people are trying to point fingers, blame, and hang someone, but the person to be hung died in the pickup.
 
Mo. highway patrol sight states the driver of the 1st bus was 75 years old----wonder if that was a factor----a very tragic accident none the less.

DRIVER 4 WAS FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY AND VEHICLE 4 STRUCK THE REAR OF VEHICLE 3. SCHATZ SUBJECT PRONOUNCED AT 1315 HOURS AND DRINKER SUBJECT WAS PRONOUNCED AT 1338 HOURS. BOTH SUBJECTS WERE PRONOUNCED BY FRANKLIN COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINER MIKE COPELAND. MTD:6 YTD:78
