With all the ga-ga of the Indy contract, one has to ask "Why did you come to work at Overnite in the first place" ? You obviously knew from the get go that it was a non-union shop. I know I have had alot of disagreements with my sups, told them to kiss my rear and went about my business. Why didn't you go to work for another company that is/was under the NMFA ? I thought for a while that representation might be a good thing, but, I represent myself just fine without help. I have friends with some of the other non-union LTL's and with the exception of FDX and Conway,we are the highest paid. The job really is pretty easy for what we make. Give me a straight answer WITHOUT propaganda.
With all the ga ga about "O" one has to ask why we still think we work for "O"?
Things are changing, We are a new company, if you have not noticed. Overtime is being cut through out the company, new rules are being implemented that certainly not only hurts those with alot of seniority, our rulebook is nothing more then xtra toilet paper. and seniority, and stability mean nothing any more.
For the years that I have worked for "O" I liked what I did, and to be honest if "O" would have gone union, we would have been bankrupt.
Now with the inflation escallating at a pace over the past 5 years that will make an olympic runner look like they are jogging, $.50 will not even cover the cost of the paper they passed out with the outline of the bennies for this year.
We are now owned by a union company, that prides themselves on being the tightest runned ship in the shipping business, there will be a time when the will keep the inevitable eye on you, as they do with small package, it is just a question of getting thier DUCK'S IN A ROW, and of coarse , as with everything else ,this will take time. And when that time hits, they will make it hard for you to do your job, based on the fact that UPS does not like to pay out in longterm monies and bennies, when you get the years behind you they will ride you like a stallion in an open field for 8 hrs. a day.
If you confront a UPS trained natzi SUP. with your holier then thou attitude of protecting yourself without a contract and sometype of backing, you will find your self out of this non union company and I am sure the door will not hit you on your way out.
And awnser this question for me. If "O" was making the same amount of monies per year as the big 3,( and mgnt used that expression in every quarterly meeting mind you.) Then why could they not pay us the same as the competition considering we were doing the same job? And making the same profits year after year?
As far as I am concearned, the only thing I am seeing in your statement justifiably, is a statement of insecurity.
And by the way "O" is hiring drivers. You mite want to apply.
