I think the number he is looking at is the peak price. The whole deal with Jacobs is a show for investors, cut and scrimp to make the profit look larger to investors so they buy and drive up the stock price. The problem is he can only do that for a limited amount of time before the deterioration of assets and moral puts a strangle hold on forward motion of the company. ( this is when you will see him move towards the door and take his profit )

You have to realize the reason Jacobs bought us imho is because he saw value in what he could take from us and present it to investors as a winning ticket if they buy in. Remember Wall Street is a casino at this time . Investors are not looking for long term substainable growth ,but only get rich quick gains . There was and still remains more he can take to increase profits without adding much organic in business. This is the main reason I am for uninonzation because I see it as the only way we a drivers can slow the take and it has been effective already in the spence it has made him think and reconsider before taking more as for fear of a larger amount of union growth amongst his terminals.

If anyone has ideas of how better to stop the take from us at this time under Jacobs I'm all ears. As imperfect some may feel that the Teamsters are I think it's still are best means. I don't see the options list being very long at this point.
You make it sound like it’s only Jacobs. Every single company is taking, not just Xpo.

This is what I was trying to say. Completely agree. Without representation, we are lost in the woods. Our futures will depend on the whims of the next billionaire who may take the reins.

And we need to stop it. We're suggesting representation. If there's an alternative, I'm willing to listen.
Fact is, there isn’t. Get your own authority and be your own boss. That’s the alternative. Imo, if the Yrc drivers don’t get back every concession they gave to the company plus an increase, the teamsters will have zero credibility. And for the record, I hope the drivers get every penny owed.

Even if that's the case and all companies are doing it doesn't make it right. Where are the workers with some backbone and self worth ? Never a better time than now to take a stand and demand better. WTF!

After two weeks, team we would be replaced by team me. People have bills to pay and would most likely go back to work happy that they got 10% of what they wanted. Then the Teamsters would pat each other on the back and enjoy a nice cigar while on vacation.

Under the perceptions that exist today, I can't disagree with anything you said. However, allow me to project a bit. It is well known that these companies have deeper pockets than any of us could imagine. How could we ever expect to outlast them considering their ability to delay and divide us? Lets remember that their deep pockets are filled with the revenue that WE generate FOR them with our sweat and blood. Without us, their revenue streams will decrease dramatically. Their profits will dry up quickly. They didn't get where they are through ignorance or incompetence. Profit is their only motivation. One terminal on strike will be a nuisance to them...but they'll try to withstand it. If we all stood together, as one single dominant force, and demanded their attention, no strike would last more than a few days. It's true that we need their infrastructure to survive, but their infrastructure is useless and will lay dormant until our labor brings it to life. We have the power on the tips of our fingers. All we need to do is slide it into the palms of our hands.

I hope the drivers and workers get all concessions reversed as well. If not , why not?

I've asked before with no answer given: How much money will have changed hands because of these concessions after 10 years? What will be the grand total? 3 billion. 4 billion. 6 billion. Whatever the total , it should be a rallying cry for reversing any and all concessions.

Simple. There is no unity in our industry. That, and the fact that 95 percent of the drivers are broke. One of the regular drivers came in Tuesday night, looked rough. I asked if he was ok, he said yeah, had chemo today. He can’t afford to miss a run. Why? Big payment for his Harley. Harley, truck payment, mortgage payment, that’s why no one will stick together.

Exactly. XPO can last a lot longer than 98% of the drivers. The walk out in Miami shows how poorly unified drivers are.

And the companies are counting on exactly what you posted. When I metaphorically mentioned the word "slavery", you said I might lose credibility. Consider this; You are working 50 to 60 hours a week and your wife works full time outside the home and with that combined income you are barely making payments on your debt. A Market Watch study says most American families are one $500.00 emergency expenditure away from bankruptcy. It is certainly not the deplorable conditions associated with slavery as depicted in history, but it is slavery just the same. I am truly sorry for this man and others who may be in a similar situation. My retirement savings were devastated in the 2008 recession, Lost everything and had to start over again, so I understand the need to show up every day. I should have been sitting on the beach for the past 4 years. However, anyone who thinks the situation will get better without intervention, is simply fooling themselves. It costs nothing to try and based on recent NLRB decisions against XPO, I still maintain that there is no risk. In light of the driver shortage, even if they terminated you, you'd be working within a week.

There's truth in your statement that you have a contract , but they expire. Companies that are doing well now can falter. And finally , you are not just battling XPO. You are battling against EVERY company that sees unionization as a threat. FedEx. Wal-mart. Amazon. Just to name a few. With very deep pockets and a lot of politicians under their influence. And , to be honest , union people are only human , what happens when big money and/or an unbelievably nice job gets waved in their face?
Funny you bring up Wal-mart. I remember years ago when I was in a union. One of the thing they would bring up at the meetings was how much the was charge by Union members on there personal Teamster Visa credit card. I sure that is still being talked about today and I sure they add Amazon, Target and a few others.
The problem is the Union don't support there own and then scratch there head when union membership continues decline.

Yup everyone living paycheck to paycheck. We had a Union factory go on strike and after 1 week over half of them crossed the line and went back to work. 2 weeks later a new contract was signed

you forgot high credit card debt, large cellphone bill with phone payments, overrated cable/sat tv bill.

Why are so many families barely making their payments??? Not because of these so call evil companies. Most do it to themselves by the use of one object. It's call a pen. They sign there way into deep debt. I going to correct you by saying most families could not write a $1000.00 check to cover an unexpected expense.
Stop using credit cards. Pay cash and save for what you want. You will be surprised on how much money you will have when you stop paying on CC and auto loans.

While true in some cases, I would argue you are over simplifying the situation. Ramseys quote looks good on paper but not always applicable in the real world.
