The lack of a successful union drive, in many cases, is directly proportional to the cognitive dissonance of drivers who refuse to believe the reality staring them in the face.

And what if the reality you're selling isn't actually the reality, and those people who believe that they don't need you are right? For example, if we keep getting raises, and they continue to improve benefits, and you're still crying that we're going to lose it all, who has their head in the sand? Are you so deeply invested that you can't back away?

Far more have complained about the company on these boards than those who are satisfied with the situation.

Of course they have. It's cool to fight the man, not agree with him. Plus, this is the internet. No one gets on a message board to be positive. Also, with all due respect to the hosts, this is a very small sample of current XPO drivers- you can't just extrapolate these opinions out to the entire driver pool.

I'm hoping there's an old school driver here who can tell us what they earned per hour in 1980. That information should tell us whether or not we're being fairly compensated.

Sure, let's compare almost 40 years of the free market to the peak of regulation. Dirty pool, Hollywoodz. 1980 isn't coming back, and without that artificial throttling of competition, neither are the Teamsters.

Corporate tax rates were 91% during the Eisenhower administration and reduced to 75% with the Kennedy/Johnson administration. These corporations still made billions of dollars and the only difference between now and then is now, they are keeping a much greater share of their profits and relegating stagnant wages to a supply and demand situation.

Hey now, if you'd like to talk about corporate and upper level tax rates and what a joke they are, and the downsides of promoting the complete BS concept of trickling money, I'll hop on that train.

I heard that they were using last mile subcontractors regularly in Cinnaminson up till the time they filed for an election . Are they doing this anywhere else ?

Cinnaminson results 19-4. yes :bgroovy::bgroovy::bgroovy:[/QUOTE

Congratulations to the drivers in Cinnaminson for having the balls to stand up for themselves.

For those drivers who may be unaware, Team Care Health Care was proposed to the company a few months ago. They have apparently rejected the plan, as they have shown absolutely no interest in providing us with a quality health care package. Details will be released shortly and when you see this, and finally open up your eyes to the reality of the situation, you'll see what the Teamsters can do for you. You'll see that the 16.00 a week you pay in dues will be returned to you in spades, just in the Health Care offering alone. There is no possible way they can put a "spin" on this that says anything other than "WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU."

What I am offering is reality. Improve benefits??? Wait until you see the Team Care package. Teamsters Health Care is improving benefits, not the bull ::shit:: plan they are pushing on us for 2019.

I am assuming that there are more drivers out there who feel as I do, otherwise I wouldn't waste my time here and I think the sample is larger than you believe. Most guys stand by waiting for direction, as this is a difficult decision for anyone. They hear things from both sides and aren't really sure where the truth lies. When they finally realize the truth, the cards will fall.

10 yrs ago the majority of the post here on this site were positive in regards to Con-way with little exception. People did get on here to post positive things and where proud of their position and who they worked for. The same can’t be said now.
Things started down hill for Con-way employees when CF was spun off and management thought their union woes were a thing of the past.
It’s funny we used to think the sentiment shown here and throughout the company was almost cult like. Xpo only wishes at this point it had loyalty of its workforce that was once had here.

I seen a lot of companies bought out & it never turns out to be a good thing, people will try to find the positive in the change but after a few months they see they were wrong....

The general practice of companies involved in M&A ‘s is to seek growth through buying companies in the same business and bring them into the fold and streamlline cost at aquired company in the process. Let’s say you own a 10 billion dollar company and you buy another 10 billion company (with other peoples money) you essentially created a 20 billion company. Bravo you created a 20 million dollar revenue company ! Your a genius . Now if you cut cost at the company you just bought ,every dollar saved goes to the bottom line. Monitor every penny spent . The way the the leaders of these companies make money is through elaborate bonus structures that are put in place that reflect the savings achieved through slash and cuts at the aquired companies. This is the basic nature of rollout M&A scheme.

Traditional company’s make money through organic growth. Growing your core business. It’s a slower process and the rewards for those at top are generally not as great and take time. This is the model Con-way operated under.

We are now part of a rollout M&A organization. Growth is achieved by acquisitions rather then organic means ( that not to say some organic growth does not occur ) and profit for those at the top are base of of bonuses from saving and overzealous investors caught up in the spin of future growth estimates by those at the top. Short term casino investors love this type of investing. Long term gains can be limited.

Now how that applies to us at Xpo and the point that I’m making is the basic nature of the beast so to say is to keep cost minimized. No one is saying you will never see another pay raise or the company will never do the minuminum it will have to do stave off unionization but your kidding yourself if you don’t understand the basic nature of how this works. There is pressure right now , be it the union ,the driver shortage or both that is pushing them to make things better and they will begrudgingly do the minuminum they have to do.

I heard Jacobs say that we were gonna see some love from XPO. I know we've seen some raises due to the fact he has to keep up with the competition, but I've seen nothing that says we're loved....only marginalized.

So when did they improve benefits ? I must have missed something

NO they don't. They wish they could destroy that loyalty in totality. They don't want us here. And are confused as to why any one would stay. Even with winter coming. Guys keep leaving. Good guys. The guys we count on. And another round of retirements are on tap. The cupboard is getting awfully bare around here.
