Two-person delivery? What the hell is that? Section 24 Paragraph 13 of the ABF Freight Salesman’s Book-Of-Lies-To-Tell-Potential-Customers clearly states: “You will PROMISE a two-person delivery at EVERY opportunity to a customer, even though we will NEVER have enough staff on hand to provide this service that lines our pockets and clearly screws the sorry-ass Union driver.”

err, get your facts straight...that would be "The ArcBest Freight SalesPERSON's Book-Of-Lies-To-Tell-Potential Customers"

Gotta get the correct vernacular/phonics and avoid any type of stereotypes..such as salesMAN...gotta be a salesPERSON or salesREP to be politically correct! or to get high falutin' --Account Representative-- or Account Executive--yeah, I like that one best..
ArcBest Account Executive...(still tellin' lies, though)

If YRC goes under ABF goes down too when those laid off all start collecting their pensions that ABF will be the only one paying into!

“Man/woman/transgender” .......two-“person” delivery.......
I’m going to go out on a limb here,..........and say that,.....in a two- “person” delivery of anything heavy,...like a treadmill...

Only one of those three is going to be doing all the heavy lifting.....
The other two will......hold the PDA.....

Probably not, but I can see ABF paying the pension for only ABF....

I think they’ve been angling for that for a while. But,......on their terms, as far as contributions, how much,....and who controls.....

And a defined-contribution only......

That ought to keep guys from retiring before 65......

Is ABF going to pay a withdrawal liability to leave the funds they don't have that kind of money?
Let’s be realistic the union has a interest in YRC until the dues disappear. Do you honestly think ABF is going to be made to pay a 6 billion dollar payment like UPS did?

Abf bought out of the multi company pension found me pay for abf people only
ABF does not want to pay the pension you had to threaten to strike to get them to maintain current benefit levels for this contract which is a pension cut. ABF only pays 2018 rates while UPS pay more 2020 rates.

If you get hurt in Illinois during a delivery it pays near 800.00 per week work comp. In Indiana about 500.00. Going on work comp can get real expensive for ABF. Lost manpower, & you have to pay the injured & the person who picks up the slack. Unless of course the one doing the extra work is injured on the job also. Now it is really getting expensive. Now, how much cheaper is it to send someone else to make a 2 man delivery versus a 2 man work comp cost?

Unfortunately,.....after the Janus Ruling,.......many "non-participating" Union members will de-fund their Union,...by trying to get out of paying dues.....a purely selfish act with long-term consequenses.
Maybe a selfish act but may also be a way to protest dissatisfaction in the union leadership. Union dues has been a major contention point in past local 728 meetings. Several years ago I supported Alan Lamb in his run for president of Local 728 only to find out he had not been paying union dues. After he payed the back dues, the union decided he could not run for president of local 728 because he owed union dues when he was nominated and qualified for his candidacy. This left only one candidate. Surprise-suprises. P.S. Not that Randy Brown was a bad president, I just thought that after 16 years it was time for a leadership change.

A non union would fire the hell out of you for getting hurt. If you don't know the laws in your state concerning workers comp, then the company will recognize your stupidty and fire you. Unions carriers will try to be slick as well when it comes to that. Companies take injuries and workers comp claims serious. That's like one of their biggest expenses. If they can find a way to get rid of you when you get hurt, they will. Always immediately alert your supervisor when you get hurt. I dont care if the pain is not that bad, still tell the supervisor that you were hurt. I've seen alot of guys get denied workers comp and even get fired for not letting a supervisor know immediately that they got hurt while working. Just my little piece of advice. Enjoy and be safe

I've read the book "I Hear You Paint Houses",...upon which the movie was based. Haven't seen the movie.

And you are absolutely right.....No Union should encompass any of those things you mention. That's why we have elections. Sooner or later,.....the Crooks are out.
I would suggest you look up Daniel J. Tobin....Teamster President from 1931 through 1952....Extremely honest,...and well-beloved, leading the Teamsters through the war years,.....Advising the President,....First Union to de-segregate.

We've had Union leaders who were exemplary ...and ethical people. Still do.....in spite of all the propaganda by the Business Roundtable, Chamber of Commerce, American Legislative Council, and Berman's "UnionFacts.com"

There is a concerted business effort to take away your Right of Assembly,...as it pertains to your job. Why? What threat do organized Workers have to the business community? and,.....Why are they trying to take away a First Amendment Right?

I think you'll agree that.....the Idea of Unionism,...the Ideal,.....is a great idea. And I will agree with you that, in practice,.....sometimes Unions....not properly overseen.....attract gangsters.

But,....Let's not forget Bernie Madoff, Kenneth Lay, Jeffery Skilling, Michael Milken,.....and about 3 or 4 thousand other Corporate Crooks who've defrauded the American people. They weren't....voted out.......They got caught.

So,.....would Business-sponsored propaganda painting all Unions as "criminal enterprises"....be the ol' proverb about the "Pot calling the Kettle Black"?

If you are applying for a job in a "Closed Shop",.....you are doing so because of the superior wages and benefits enjoyed by the employees...It behooves you,...to maintain those high benefits,.....to follow the rules of that contract......

Unfortunately,.....after the Janus Ruling,.......many "non-participating" Union members will de-fund their Union,...by trying to get out of paying dues.....a purely selfish act with long-term consequenses.
Within the next 16 years or so, there will be strong militant style labor unions at almost every company. They will cause many businesses to go bankrupt. By then America would be a socialist county. The younger generation would want revenge and seek the blood of any business or entity that seeks profit and power over the welfare of the people. By then, a high wage job would be a right, just as healthcare will be seen as a right. The rise of socialism in America will make unions mandatory and government run. The youth, through voting and organizing will usher in a new militant style labor movement. The employees will make the decisions regarding the operations of a company. The term employee owned business will take on a new meaning. You will start to see these militant style unions start to catch fire at college campuses. That will be the beginning and will give you a small glimpse of what's ahead. Renter unions will start to spread causing major disruptions within the housing market. The government would then have to step in and control rental properties because anybody would want to own rental property because of the hefy fines waged against them through the power of these young militant labor unions. Every demand that these unions make will cause a social media uproar. The owners of properties will fear for their lives of themselves and their family.

My predictions of the future of labor. Book coming soon

History always finds a way of repeating itself in some shape, form, or fashion. There is nothing new under the sun. The end will be as it was in the beginning. The days of mafia run unions will re-emerge and take on a different agenda. The old days will return once again, upgraded and sized to fit the new generation of freedom fighters, who will fight for justice, equality, and liberty from the strongholds of greed, pursuit of power, and corruption. They will be seen as the rebellious generation from the generation who birthed them. They will not be silenced or bought with money. They will be the first global generation. Their fellow young brothers and sisters in other countries will be inspired by their mission, and will join forces with them to make the world a place where people are treated with dignity and respect regardless of who they are or what they may or may not have. They will have a common enemy. The enemy called hate, but not all of them will be non violent. Some will become consumed with anger and rebellion and they will do more harm than good. Some will gather together with weapons in hand but they will become a victim of living by the sword and dying by the sword. Some will say they are good and some will say they are bad. Some may had started with good intentions, but they will become defiled with the very thing that they claim to fight against. HATE ...They will become what they hate. Eventually, their hearts will darken, they will be given over to darkness. They will be blinded by their own hate. Evil will overtake them, and they will become children of evil who live and walk in darkness. They will not have the ability to see past their nose. Their generation will become cursed and will be known as the members of the walking dead.

The New Generation of Freedom Fighters and their demise....The story continues
