Yellow | Are We Merging With Holland???

Talk up here in the mitten is the same thing. YRC is closing their terminal inTaylor and moving into our Detroit terminal to share dock space, and Detroit is moving half their operation up to Pontiac to share dock space with YRC. End result being able to sell or lease out the Taylor terminal that is on prime real estate. Holland Detroit also in the last 2 years built a new big garage and added 40 doors to the dock. Time will tell.

Eventually we will see holland & new penn merge & dovetail in & the rest of the board roll down, can’t hold bids or work well, or get pink slips & laid off or looking for a new job, it wasn’t all about the money, but when you don’t read through the body & language of the contract this is what you get, when it happens I don’t wanna hear those who voted for it whine

I've been thinking for quite some time that YRC freight would merge with New Penn and Reddaway .
Holland consistently makes 65 to 70 million annually .Don't mess with that .
You couldn't run 1 and 2 day lanes with a hub and spoke system.
Unless they divide the companies into 4 or 5 regional territories and change their whole business model I don't see YRC merging with Holland.
Fedex Freight uses the Hub and Spoke system. We have run both Priority and Economy frieght out of our terminals ever since we merged with Fedex National aka “Watkins”.

The contract language is in place. The implementation of the plan will begin shortly. The destruction of three great companies continue

You guys have much, much more flexibility with your line haul.YRC cannot service 1 and 2 day lanes with the freight being taken to a break bulk first.

There are no seniority dispatch grievances where the driver gets paid for the entire run that someone else made at FedEx
.Our line haul doesn’t hook their own sets at a break bulk.

Your workers have much more accountability and your technology far surpasses ours.

I’m not saying it can’t be done , I’m saying the service failures would be eno

Our drivers can file and get paid did seniority protocols are not followed.

In case of a merger, which would probably mean the Holland name goes away, I think there are going to be a lot of happy yrc drivers and a lot of sad Holland drivers. I can't see the yrc name going away. In any event life in the regional world is going to change.
It won’t happen ,Holland offers superior 2 day service to points that takes YRC freight a week .merging facilities is just a cost sharing option for the company.

I have many friends that work at fed ex They all say, that you can get run over and or killed at the break bulks if your not paying attention,(To what the other guy is doing) It’s a dangerous condition that is not being addressed by management ,Too many young guys in a hurry to show red shirts how good they are.

Yrc had one & two lanes with the utility drivers, did they do away with all of them?

About a year after they started it. Like Falcon said; YRC themselves never have been able to do overnight, and 2ndday consistently. Too much handling, and restrictive work rules.
The buy all theory didn’t work back then due to the economic conditions, and it’s not working now in a healthy economy. What’s the answer i have no clue.... I can say the union negotiators should have put half of the $4.00 raise into some kind of retirement instead of 25% the failing cspf maybe go to a RIP plan that central pa.

No, but I talk to their drivers and have one friend who was a city driver there for 2 years I called today and he said he never heard of anyone getting paid for work they didn’t do.
They do not pay grievances anything like a union line does. Not even remotely the same.
Do you work there?
I work there and I am a Linehaul or “Road Driver”. There is a grievance system in place. You can file for dispatch procedures not being followed. I have been here for 12 years and have filed 2 of them, only got paid on one. Most of my task is pay I didn’t work for, I get paid an hour and 15 minutes to drop, hook and fuel and it usually takes me 35 to 45 minutes to do those task. And don’t get me started on working the dock, I’m clocked in for about 2 hours but really only work about an hour. So for 3 hours and 15 minutes of pay at $29 a hour but I really only do about 1 hour and 45 minutes of work, and my 69 cents a mile for a 400 mile round trip run.
