When you take a C.C day they still pay your health and welfare for that day.
We had volunteer layoff sheet posted and no one signed up for it.
 
The USF Truck driving school is still up and running strong in Detroit, just saw a mentor come in off the street training a new driver. The Terminal manager hung a voluntary layoff sheet up last week and so far 3 or 4 road drivers signed it and 1 city. Am I missing something or did all that hash I smoked back in the day just kick in?

Seems they can get away with it with HNRY without a change of operations.

Why you think that? Yrcw doesn't do next day only in Texas from what I read. You been here long anuff to know it slow this time off the year. We've not had a lay off in 5 years. Just because we are now doesn't mean that wasn't the norm 10 years ago. The sky hasn't fallen yet truck driver don't panic!
 
You missed the point. What I'm saying is that in the 31 yrs I've been here I don't recall any training of new drivers (new hires) while their laying people off. This program is for people that walk in off the street and wanna be truck drivers, we train them. Why is the training still going on? Ever try hash when you were younger?

Possible they get a kick back from government am just speculating

I was laid off 29 yrs and 11 mos ago, still waiting on that call.
Be patient, friend.
I'm beginning to wonder if they've lost my number.

What do you guys know about layoffs? I have heard rumors from some southern terminals like KN, ME, SG etc. Does anyone know if there are actually layoffs at any of the barns and how many and where? It sure feels like freight is slow enough for layoffs to take place but I hear they are still hiring at some barns.
