Have heard this right before covid and was silenced for awhile however it seems like a lot of smoke is starting to occur with this. The whole network 2.0 has been in the plans and now things are starting to roll out. Sit down, think, and look at why certain things happened.

FedEx Ground- Contractors
FedEx Express- Staffs
FedEx Freight - Staffs

Combine FXG/FXE and if staffed drives are kept on by FDX it changes how the company is classified RLA vs NLA... Which is another reason FXF was left as a stand alone for the time being. With the combining of FXE and FXG it changes how the network runs causing less air traffic and more trucking.

Now WM is needing infrastructure to compete with Amazon... It makes sense to go after a network that is global and in place... but they do not need a LTL model... Now they are tied into JBHunt which could take on Freight. Now you have the best of both worlds from a WM stance they get a network and release what is not needed.

Is network 2.0 really a transition to WM? Did away with delivering Amazon... have starting making changes to labor force etc... Think about it?

I don't think Fedx drivers could pass Walmart's dress code.

It makes sense. They have been laying off employees at their e-commerce buildings and buying robots to increase efficiency. I haven't seen anything that suggests their online business has increased enough to justify such a drastic change.

Making room for express employees as part of a sale. Pick up/ship from your local Walmart.

The only part that doesn't make sense is the global presence. What does FedEx do with their global presence if they lose the domestic part.

Merge express and ground and sell express equipment and property to Walmart?

Your overthinking. Stop thinking about it. What ever happens, happens. It’s out of our control. 👍

Think about Freight's current customers. WM has zero concern for moving that type of freight, and they don't need 1/100th of Freight's assets to move what they do need moved.
LtL is very little consumer goods. Think about what you see on the dock. Valves, industrial support, raw materials, motors, engines, ect.
That's not what WM sells.

He's talking about the express/ground network.
