I have the Teamster/Humana plan which for 6 years at no cost . co-pays are 10 and 20 . Only thing i had to get was a dental supplement as Humana doesn't carry my dentist. That cost for me and wife is 480 per year but it covers everything including the fake chompers

I finally received my information from Humana Medicare advantage ppo plan today in the mail seems easy to enroll will be reviewing the plan thanks for all the replays on this .
Just a word of warning, compare the Teamcare Advantage plan (SPONSORED) by Teamcare with a regular Medigap supplement. The Teamcare plan sounds really good unless you get sick, then you could spend a lot of out of pocket money.
You will need to watch those supplements, as you age, they get expensive.

My Hospital is a blessing in some ways. However the billing can get outrageous in a hell of a hurry.
Years ago my gut quit functioning and tried to kill me. The Ambulance dumped me into their ER. 4 hours and something on the order of 400 blood tests later, some sent to Dallas medical chopper etc.... the total billing approached 30,000.
Three of that thousand for mathematics people to sit and crunch numbers for a few hours. (Plural)
We never did reach a diagnosis. And thats unfortunate. They kicked me out when I quit hollering and carrying on. A little stick tends to do that with the right drugs.
My pocket share was 20 to 30% and it was a couple of years before they wrote off the rest.

Cost 785.00 for ninety days I pay 253.60 all meds thru humans pharmacy by mail

VA has taken good care of me too. Tinnitus, 50% hearing loss, PTSD and prostate cancer. Never go on a year long paid vacation compliments of the government. I thought S. Vietnam sounded like a nice tropical vacation. What did I know at 18.

I had a Aunt May. Now I dont know the particulars because its convient for parents to refer to so and so as a Aunt rather than teach the ins and outs of married relations that young.
This one she was pushing 80. Toted around a 5 gallon can of oxygen that must have weighted 100 pounds on two little wheels. She had been tethered to that thing for very life itself. Quietly bubbling and so on as it supplied wet oxygen to her.
She likes her shopping. SO down the stairs she went half landing at a time. Takes about a hour to get out of her 6th story apartment. (Elevators? oh no. As in hell no) Finish Shopping. Come back home. Haul O2 tank up half a landing, pales. Leans in a corner sucking on it while taking a smoke. Little fires are ignored. (Tis a wonder she did not combust) anyway she pinks up and then assaults the next half floor landing. A hour and change later shes busy pinking up again in her chair. whew.
I never did find out how long she lived. But she probably went shopping the day they buried her. And I hope they buried her under the favorite store or something. Like really deep.
Geezers. HA. Wait until it's my turn to terrorize the younger caregivers.

Don't forget for anyone going on traditional Medicare (plus Supplemental), you also must have Part D coverage for prescriptions. If you do not have Rx coverage when Medicare eligible and you decide to get Rx coverage later on, you will be penalized for not having had Rx coverage all along. On the other hand, Medicare Advantage plans include RX and usually also dental and vision as well as gym membership.
I have a couple years, 62, but this sounds really complicated!
A little bit, yes till you get used to it. Basically you have two choices at 65:
1) Standard Medicare + a supplemental policy (at additional cost) to cover what Medicare doesn't + a prescription plan (at additional cost) which is not included with standard Medicare.
2) A Medicare Advantage plan issued by health providers (United Health Care, Humana, etc.) in your particular area. These plans are a substitute/replacement for standard Medicare and usually include prescription coverage, vision coverage, dental coverage, gym membership. The costs for these plans usually start at no additional cost over what you would be paying for standard Medicare as well as some plans at an additional cost which may have somewhat better benefits. They function somewhat like HMO's as you usually have to go to doctors within the plan. So if your doctors are already in the plan you would benefit from these plans.
Before you turn 65 Social Security will send you a booklet ("Medicare and You") showing all the plans available in your area and the booklet goes into very good detail about the options available. You can take a look online at the contents of the booklet.

Make sure your present doctors will honor the plan you are considering. I've heard that some Doctor's offices will not participate in some of these Medicare Advantage Plans. So check with your doctors before you sign up or switch plans.
