Well there is something I would like to ask these three blind mice. For years you have complained your pension wasn't fully insured, like a Single Employer Pension Fund. Do you condemn, the Teamster retirees who lobbied and helped craft the Butch Lewis act. Which does not have that insurance? Do you condemn the congressmen who wrote the Butch Lewis act with out that insurance?

German philosophy
Damn....I have no idea who F. Nietzsche is...can you please give a brief explanation of his ideas...thanks..
A German philosopher who was very opinionated in the late 1800's. His writing seemed to be everywhere in Germany when I was stationed there in 1982-1985. The couple I was living with had numerous books (loose term, mainly papers in a cloth binder) and the college he taught at had posters in numerous places. But Nietzsche view of the role of government was to make everything equal for those who wanted to start and work in business. No individual or company should have a political advantage over others in business. And that business had an obligation to monitor government and mandate change in government to accomplish this goal.

I thought his writings were sound and intelligent when I was in my late teens and early 20's but I see his flaws in my late 50's. Mainly he lived in the 1800's and we live in 20th century. His life is complete different from ours.

I don't! I may not agree with any individual(s) but unless those individuals are out to harm others, then who am I, you, or anyone to condem them?

Basically, when it came to business, his thoughts were that government should not be involved in business leaving the business owner the free will to operate said business at their discretion with no consequences for their actions (human rights, safety, etc.). He also believed that man is not equal and that slavery, bondage, and servitude were necessary in a functioning society. Other than that, he was a great guy. LOL!!!

They harmed the Tax Payer for a projected $94,000,000,000 dollars. They harmed future Teamster retirees for not insisting on single employer pension funding standards. They harmed future Teamster retirees for not securing single employer pension fund insurance. Butch Lewis was supposed to fix the past. Teamster retirees most certainly are not their brothers keepers.

I don't recall any of the three of us complaining about the pension not being fully insured. My complaint was the role of government in deregulating trucking back in 1980 which was the beginning of the end of almost all of the unionized freight companies. The Butch Lewis Act is far from perfect, but it is better than what we were facing without it. As I have stated already which you have already disagreed with, the government had a hand in this with deregulation and government oversight. Therefore, they should have a hand in helping to fix the problem. Yet they did nothing for all these years but watch good freight companies wither on the vine and shut down. So, in my opinion, the Butch Lewis Act was a good start.

Really? In the future? Can you post the lottery numbers for next week? Please, pretty please. And who will win the super bowl? Or anything else that I can legally bet on within the next 2 years. That would be great and thank you for all the future information. What will YELL be in 5 years?

You have a perverse, twisted sense of morality. The Teamster retirees secured their pensions being paid at 100%. But they did not secure the same benefit for current Teamsters. By not improving the PBGC insurance. Have you know shame?

It would have taken one paragraph of legislation to give current MEPF members the same insurance as single employer pension funds. It was a deliberate omission. The Teamster retirees threw their brothers under the bus. Time to look in the mirror.

You apparently think I am a current retiree. I am still actively employed with ABF. That makes me a "current Teamster" as you call it. As I stated, the Butch Lewis Act was a good start. Is there room for improvement? Absolutely. But it is still better than what we were looking at down the road.

OK Genius. Just so you know, we "Three Blind Mice" are all still actively employed at ABF. When any of the three of us look in the mirror, we see current employees. Again, the Butch Lewis Act is not perfect, but it is a good start.

I have never complained once that my pension isn't fully insured....as a matter of fact I have stated on here that I would have been happy with just a PBGC bailout....No I don't condemn teamster retirees because they didn't write the legislation (oh wait... damn you Roady... why didn't you write it better).....nope at least the congressmen did something, which is better than nothing..... you seem unhinged, I say this out of concern, you should see your Doctor about adjusting your meds......

Sorry ABF381, the next time I write a pension bill with those damn Demos I will try to do a better job.

The government requires me to follow their rules, pay fees and taxes on my income. Using your logic, the government should guarantee me the money to pay those taxes, pay car insurance and buy license plates.
Not a good analogy....the government doesn't guarantee that I can pay those things now.... the government (supposedly) gives me something for these fees, better roads, snow plowed, etc.... the government set up all these rules for these funds so I don't want to be told when I retire too bad, we screwed up by not having enough regulation or allowing the funds to pay out too much because of our rigid rules..you get nothing for the money paid in for your labor.....btw... I would have been happy with a PBGC bailout as I have said before but this is better.....and rather than complain maybe you should just accept it (like you will accept your socialist pension check) and be happy....

As a "current Teamster" I'm good with it. The only person objecting is you. Have you considered suing all legislators who signed the bill and the president who signed it into law?
