I'm just an eternal optimist. I cant believe he would let that kind of investment just wither and die. Theres always something going on that we don't know about. Wait for it! LOL!

The thing I see in both stories is "members" not union officials...sounds to me it wasn't endorsed by union officials, and even if it was by a misguided official I think the international wouldn't think it was ok......so I know of a Con-Way driver when I worked there that got a DWI, does that mean all Con-Way drivers are drunks? How about the R & L driver a few years ago who got arrested for child molestation? Are all there drivers perverts? That is the problem with vague generalizations....

and they say the union isn't forced on the employees
Here is the reason the federal district court ruled the way it did... https://www.culinaryunion226.org/ne...ction-against-station-casinos-red-rock-casino

Lorenzo Fertitta owner of Palace Stations is notoriously anti union. He is on record as saying come hell or high water they will never be union. His whole family, 3 brothers in all are billionaires, hate unions. One brother who owns the Golden Nugget casinos is running them into the ground treating his unionized employees like dirt.

guess you missed this line in the article:
In a statement to Newsweek, Reverand Carl Styles, business manager of LIUNA Local 77, acknowledged placing the inflatable rat and coffin outside the school.
Sound like a union official to me

I couldn't read one of the articles without giving out my email address... I try not to do that because i hate getting on email lists....but maybe you should reread what I said, "....even if it was a misguided official I think the international wouldn't think it was ok"

The casket may have not been a wise choice at a school but the Rat all the way . Trump administration tried to ban it use anywhere. Scab workers work for half the rate and little to no benefits . Their bosses are usually ex Union trained tradesman who reap there wealth off of those workers.

Well now they are rethinking it and even admit setting it up....

I think you better read your own link again..."members set up a peaceful protest"...I see nowhere that says they admit to setting it up...they said they would review it which to me says they will most likely tell members not to do that at a school....if I'm wrong please direct me to where they admit to anything as I don't see it...

The 2nd paragraph
Before the school day on Friday, September 3, 2021, members of LIUNA Local 77 began setting up to peacefully protest. As part of their preparations, they assembled props including an inflatable rat, which symbolizes unfair labor practices, as well as a coffin and banner which symbolizes how bad employment practices kill middle class jobs. All of these things were set up before school had started and the coffin and banner were down before students arrived. How do we know this? Because at 8:21 a.m. a school official actually knocked down the display which was never put back up before its removal.
3rd paragraph
Regarding the coffin’s use as part of the protest. Some have argued that its use was inappropriate for an elementary school setting. We agree and have begun a review of the process and will work to ensure we don’t make this mistake again.
Sound to me that they have used the coffin before....
Also I sure the members had to go to the union hall to get the props in the first place. Sure they just don't give those things out to just anyone.

Ok, while it doesn't explicitly say what you said, I will give you that one....why the outrage when it was knocked down before students arrived and never put back up before its removal?....and they did say under further review they agree it wasn't appropriate at a school, so I don't see a problem.... Outrage over a big rat and coffin that the children never saw? Seems to me that some anti union people will manufacture things to further their agenda....

Do you really think the union would have taken it down prior to the students arriving. The point is they thought is was ok to set it up at the school in the first place

So your going to paint all unions bad by a poor decision made by a few . Thats A broad brush. I know my local would never consider such an act .

I don't know that they wouldn't have, and neither do you...which they said they agreed that it was inappropriate at a school and it was under review...and they apologized....its funny that you want me to agree with your guess, something you will never do yourself, even when something is pretty obvious...I don't say this in anyway to take a shot at you or your character, because I think you mostly give solid arguments to your views, even though on unionization we are far apart....

You can have a solid argument when it's based on opinion and subjective points. Both only require one fact: that the person giving the opinion says it's true.

I would never tell a person to not give their opinion on an opinion based forum , but you are starting with a disadvantage when the person you have the discussion with won't accept facts that may disprove their opinions or they simply disagree with facts to disagree.

In most cases , posts from those that won't have a discussion on equal terms don't deserve the attention of a response. I've never placed a person on ignore but there are some that do get ignored.

One positive I can offer is that some insist on making non-political boards political. The positive is by trying to mix it up here and on other company boards they get decent arguments and counterpoints to their views , and not echo chambers.
