XPO | todays meeting

:hide: I almost fell out of my chair when the P&G advertising part came up!
( no, Box, I was not sleeping. )
My ears still ring when I think back on the answer to the question concerning what the re-branding was going to cost.
The answer was, our best guesstimate is MULTIPLE millions of dollars.
The whole idea was to gain brand recognition, to help us better compete with the big boys.
Fast Forward:
Multiple Millions have been spent, Multiple Millions have been taken back from the employees, lets not even mention retirement plans being shattered, or getting stabbed in the vacation back.
Certainly, our Name must now be as recognised as is possible, otherwise, why would we ever paste someone elses Brand Name over ours?
I do realize that we are talking about a big chunk of $, where does it end?
My personal feeling is, we need to GET BACK TO HAULING THE FREIGHT!!!
On time, Exception Free, and Fast.
Let P&G advertise on some other Companys trailers, let us get back to basics!
Before some of you call me stubborn or worse, remember, we live in the greatest Country in the world, and I have as much right to state my opinion as you do, and it is just as valid to me as yours is to you!:smilie_132:

P&G make Always and Tampax.

Hey Driver! Hook the Tampax trailer and the Mr. Clean Trailer.

Hey Senior Driver! Hook the Metamucil and Head and Shoulders Trailers.

Seriously, Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing them on the road.

BTW, they no longer test on animals. I love animals. Good job P&G.

:hide: This whole advertiseng thing is B*******.
WTF????
OK, I am going to gat a tattoo for the local restaurant, ( those of you who know me know the restaurant on my forehead }
What can they say?
We have people with tattoes all over their bodies!, most of them were from a drunkin night.

As one of those dreaded Truckload guys, I stop in here every now and then to see what is going on in the Freight world. Nevermind with the stereotypes about OTR drivers and all of that. I've heard it all. It doesn't concern me.

That being said, I'm wondering if the skeptics among you can explain the downside potential here. I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of your line of work. Are you concerned that a potential customer will be deprived of the sight of 'Con-way' on a trailer and will then decide to hire another carrier? Or is there some other concern? It seems to me that any revenue source (that doesn't impact operations negatively) is a good revenue source. I too have seen my 401(k) contributions suspended and other assorted crackdowns on "excess" compensation, so discussions of how the company spends its money would probably be the subject of a different discussion. On this topic I'm just trying to understand how the advertising revenue, in and of itself, could be a bad thing.

And I have the same right.

Some folks have NO IDEA what the basics are!!!!

It called making money...accelerating the net profits of the bottom line. If P&G wants to advertise on the most visible and viable carrier in the marketplace then whats the problem?

How much money is it costing the average DSR????answer...ZILCH!!!

Get a life!!!!

Good luck...I have been trying to find the downside of someone paying us 80-100 million dollars to be a billboard for the past 48 hours...I am admittedly stuck...

I don't know if anybody's saying it's a "bad" thing. Just that maybe it's not the BFD it was made out to be on the DVD. It's been done before, and doesn't seem to last.

The only problem that I can see, is what happens when we pull in somewhere to pickup or deliver to one of P&G's competitors? (ie. Johnson & Johnson, Kimberley Clark, S.C. Johnson, etc.) We haul a lot of these companies products too, what is their reaction going to be when we pull into their place of business pulling 2 - 28' billboards, (one on each side of the trailer)? I guess it will be up to the dispatcher's to make sure that this doesn't happen.

You have to know and appreciate the tenacity of P&G...and the R&D that takes place in these kinds of decisions. P&G counts every nickel and you can bet your bottom dollar they have researched this thoroughly. What most folks here don't get is why the chose Con-Way as part of the program.

Success attracts success...professionals attract professionals...its that simple...although some will never get it!

As long as some of our other customers doesn't see it as a conflict of Interest I'm fine with it,no complaints here. Its free money ,nothen wrong with that.

Everyone keeps saying free money...theres no such thing...70% of the drivers at conway are at top scale(so i am told)so 70% of us lost at least $10000 DOLLARS to the pay and benefits cut.just in the first year..how do you classify that money...was that free too

Just a question, since p&g thinks so highly of us will we be thier exclusive carrier..now that would be something to be excited about..

Ok I will say i was wrong, revenue is revenue, but was i the only one that noticed that tonnage and profits are up,,and conway stands to make millions on this p&g deal..but not a word about restoring our benefits...I just wish I wasnt so well informed and no I dont have a choice to not watch the video...Again I may have to eat this ::shit:: sandwich but I dont have to like it
