We were told today that in KCY the trucks will be assigned to the runs and you will bid both at once by bidding your run. We were also told that the 41 guys on the Extra Board will NOT have assigned trucks. Brandon, get ready for the crying to commence.

IND is supposed to be going to that starting this bid. Wonder how many fights there will be when a daytime trys to say it's his truck and the night timer is just a guest in it.

Be happy you hae a J........O............B! Many truck drivers out their without work that could step right into sny positiion

No there isn't. There might be a lot of drivers out there without a job that pays .57 a mile, but if they aren't working, they aren't looking.

The crying in cmh is outta control you would think guys were having pay check deductions coming out for these trucks
for the last time their not your trucks it says fedex on the side of them

This should create some animosity between drivers..With those centers that have multiple bids going to the same place should the drivers be able to pick from the group of tractors ( by seniority) assigned to run that schedule? This is what some drivers from our barn would like to see...Personally I think this a bad idea..

With all the tractors being assigned to bids by the company their really isn't anything to argue about ( infighting )..But by allowing drivers to pick a tractor of their choice ( from the group assigned to that schedule ) for whatever their reasons are, your inadvertently going to create animosity..

So our center manager is going to check with HQ and see if it flies...Are any other centers doing this?

MEM and WME has had assigned trucks to runs since the merge. Bid the run and the truck # goes with it.
It must be the new way from what I'm hearing around my corner of the world.
Heard a bunch more centers around here are doing it that way this time too. Low mileage trucks go to high mileage runs and visa-versa.

While they do say FedEx on the side, driving the same truck every day goes a long way to making a driver happy. A happy driver is more productive and will work harder for the company bottom line.

I know my whole attitude changed when the extra board was given assigned trucks. There is a lotto be said for being able to come in to work and get in the same clean truck every night. I don't miss the days of hunting for 3 different trucks that were already assigned to 2 or 3 different drivers prior to you for the same shift.

they dont care if we are happy, and that is very sad, going to miss my truck, 700 k on her still drove and handled like new because i got things fixed on her, but from now on only going to fix what needs fixin, and i hope they have so many break downs they will go back to the ole ways of doing things, i hate change when it is for the worse, going to get a old junk kenworth automatic just in time for winter, yee frinkin ha, k done whining back to the mind set of, its just a truck, still going to make the same money just have to work harder to do it

just one more way to remind you who is in charge
also we should not spend all this money on these trucks when we could get basic tractors for half the cost.

You also need to remember that without us, you would be nothing. This company would still run without you:D. That would cut quite a bit.

I have gone from hell and back again to get everything fixed in my tractor, and had to fight to get new tires. Now that everything is fixed, I'm losing it. I bet now with assigned tractors to runs, drivers wont be so eager to fix their tractors and just pass the problem on to the next person.

They quit fixing the trucks about a year ago unless it's a safety issue, so in turn, my slip seat driver and I don't write anything up unless it's a safety issue! We have wrote ::shit:: up til we were blue in the face. This company has really gone down hill as far as our equipment goes, it's like we are just a sub-par company now a days?

Refuse to drive it period. If you work in a smoke-free state, call the number listed and the company will be fined, you have rights too. Our bid sheets state that the smoking policy will be strictly enforced, what a joke. They then give in, and say we'll match smokers with smokers and non with non- what good is it when this happens? I heard some people call off sick- to protest it. Good luck.

Since this company doesn't believe in checklanes and the driver's don't care attitude, with the loss of their assigned equipment, get used to breaking down. Just make sure you document everything to get compensated. Keep the interior visually presentable, so if you get pulled over or questioned at your breakdown by the D.O.T., they won't bother you. Hide it, I guess and at the end of your shift, leave it there, sadly I'm tired of cleaning up after people. Don't risk your CDL- get everything fixed before you leave- put it in the breakdown section of the log, put down central, and the person you spoke with, cover yourself, you might get paid for it, depending on the type of bid you have, don't bother your CM, they just want you to make the gate of course- and you won't be compensated, you will be harassed. Calling central covers you- and the destination terminal will be aware of what's going on since the CM will most likey forget to notify them. I'm a shuttle driver, I'm not supposed to get paid unless I'm doing something productive- dockwork- not going to happen. If they paid us for all breakdowns (at the centers) this would not be a problem, since they don't pay us, most people don't bother to fix anything- it worked in the past, when the company was fined, now you do- and it's not worth it. FedEx obviously doesn't care about loyalty. As for the interior of the cabs, sadly they will be destroyed. Just make sure you get a seat cover (vented)- placards work too, driving gloves, and carry window cleaner with ammonia and towels- only clean up after yourself. Don't do anything to get fired, if you are at top scale pay, you'll be first to go. There was a reason S. Garrison assigned tractors to drivers, to make drivers feel like part of the company, pride, and the equipment looked better and the lasted longer with less breakdowns.

I don't care about the assigned equipment, as long as the equipment is taken care of. A checklane where the tractor/trailers are checked at the end of each tour, (since the majority of drivers don't do it here) is cleaned out, windows- inside and out, fueled and oiled, road ready etc...I worked at places that did this, and all the equipment was pretty much the same, even with the smoker issue- with the equipment serviced, cleaned daily- it was not noticable or an issue. Most Watkins drivers said this was the norm at there terminals/company. What a shock for them...Drivers needing extra hours or work would be happy doing this- now that most are sitting at home.

Those days are gone and this idea makes too much sense for FedEx...
