Will this COO eliminate the UE runs?ABF informed the Teamsters today of intent to file a change of operations for the Central, South & Eastern Region's to close down road operations in end of line terminals returning the work to the break bulks. The change would be implemented February 18.
I also am curious about the UE runs. Seems like the company is going back to operating like it did 20 years ago. Will this COO eliminate the UE runs?
Is this system wide or just in Phoenix? At 130 PHX, we were told by our shop steward that UE runs will cease to operate as of 2/18. It will result in 6 new linehaul bids in a PHX, and 2 Openings at 120 ABQ.

I’m wondering if these drivers will have an opportunity to dovetail into the city boards. If so, will it be at their home terminal or at their end of line destination?I’ll bet they’re going to expand UE operations to replace end-of-line road runs. They can increase UE employees and runs without a COO.
Once expanded, though, they can’t remove UE runs without a COO.
Curious to see how they move to cover the road work.
No they will not. Unless your barn is a single seniority barn/local. Otherwise follow the work to the terminal who is taking the work or endtail at your current barn if your lucky enough to need drivers.I’m wondering if these drivers will have an opportunity to dovetail into the city boards. Actually, my understanding of the contract language is that UE runs are treated just like any other city bid and can be changed at any time without a COO. That was the flexibility the company was looking for, that apparently is not working as well as intended. Anything having to do with a road bid, however, always has to have a COO.I’ll bet they’re going to expand UE operations to replace end-of-line road runs.
