You have a good point but no one is going to make individuals with 401k's whole. It needs to be all or none on bailouts. The problems with the pension plans have been known for decades. Hoping a Democratic Socialist comes to the rescue has far greater long term consequences than using the PBGC which is what that agency is for. Both my retired In-laws pensions went bankrupt and both are administered by the PBGC now. IMO this is what should happen with these pensions.

I agree,where is money going to come from to pay us our pensions?
 
From what I can gather the political system in this country operates on buying votes. Imo, that is why the present administration is spending so much money on helping illegal aliens.

The money is going to come from the same place the money came from to bail out Wall Street bankers in 2008 , who were " too big to fail"....and the same place where the money is already being set aside for the new generation of thieves on Wall Street who hadn't learned any lesson from the 2008 collapse,....and who are even now back to dealing in risky derivatives with the knowledge that the Cromnibus bill passed in November of last year specifically states that Dodd-Frank will be set aside and , once again, the taxpayer will reward stupid risk-taking. I have an idea......Why don't I give the portion of tax dollars I personally "donated" to ...."save "....Wall Street banks, and allocate that same portion to saving the pension fund I am in? Wall Street caused the problems with defined-benefit funds, I prefer my tax dollars save my fund instead of them.

That would be Citizens United vs. the FEC., where the Supreme Court decided that corporate millionaires are SO much more important to Democracy than you and I , Brother Mud....
 
20 years ago, every roofer in America was.....American. It wasn't the best job, but you could make a living out of it. 20 years ago, every meat and poultry plant in America employed.......Americans. It wasn't the best job, but you could make a living out of it. 20 years ago, every motel operator,.......every convenience store manager...,....Well, you get the gist of it. We blame the immigrants, when we should be blaming the greedy business owners who cut the wages and bought the politicians to water down enforcement of ICE laws.........all to line their own pockets,....and to Hell with the rest of the country. They are just tickled pink that we hate immigrants.......it deflects the blame away from them.......

I cant understand why its ok politically to bail out bankers instead of putting them in jail like they did in Iceland and leave hard working people out in the cold when they are the victims! If nothing else bail out no one. But there are billions gone with no accounting of it.

I'm sorry, but am I the only "legally born in the U.S." Citizen that beieives that if your title starts with the word "illegal" as in "illegal immigrant" that you have no rights in this country. We say as a country, if you break into our country illegally and we don't catch you, we are then responsible for you. I'm sorry, that is like saying " if I break into a bank, I can be the president of it tomorrow". GIVE ME A BREAK

No you are not. If they get caught they need to be bussed right back home. No doctor, no lawyer, no anything but a bus ride and a drink of water. And anything they have of value should be confiscated and put toward the cost of the bus ride.
 
I like what y'all are saying, I really do. And I agree wholeheartedly. But how do you justify a union that supports the democrats primarily who LOVE illegals? Just a question.

Thats a very good question. But the misunderstanding is the Rank and File is the union not it's leadership. The leadership tries its best to make everyone believe that they are in itself the union but the leadership's job is represent our best interests which is obviously clear to most by now that they have not been doing for a long time.I cant speak for anyone else but I do not support the international leadership, as a matter of fact and for the record, I loathe this leadership. The union is just like our country, one can only hope that the one elected chooses to represent those they were elected to do. That question could also be applied with " How do you justify a country that supports the democrats primarily who LOVE illegals?

For me it's because the Union has fought for things like air ride seats, A/C, Pwr. Steering, banned Hendrickson walker beam suspensions, etc, etc. you get the picture. Wages, health care, vacations, sick days, seniority rights, unjust discharges, so on and so forth.

You don't throw the Baby out with the bath water.

Well,.....I'm a Democrat,....probably far to the left of most people. I'm a veteran and a gun owner, too. I guess I'm a Democrat because of the above statement which says Democrats "LOVE" illegal aliens......For one thing, I'd rather associate with a party that "Loves",....instead of one that "Hates".......I would prefer a party that looks for solutions,.....instead of knee-jerk reactions that start with "Hate".....as in "I hate illegal immigrants"...."I hate welfare people"......."I hate Muslims"...."I hate gay people",......which allow other people to take advantage of that hate to line their pockets. Hate pays in America,....biggest growth industry in years........I would rather associate with a party that asks "Why are there illegal aliens?"........."Why is there so many people on Welfare?".........The only thing I "Hate".....and I'm only human, you know,.....is people who are smart enough to know better, but have never developed the morals to prevent themselves from taking advantage of other people,.....( Wall Street Bankers,....current IBT ...."leadership".....corporate crooks who mealy-mouth platitudes,....while practicing piracy....).......
