FedEx Freight | October pay raise

True (in some areas). But OD runs also an OR in the low 80s while we are still fighting to hit 90. See the connection? And not to beat that poor horse but not paying OT until after 60 does lower your labor cost ...

And you will be at $23.68 in October ...

So what do you attribute the disparity in OR to?
Paying OT can't be that much of a difference.
Can it possibly be that OD is old school? OD has dock workers, local drivers and line drivers while we have a few dock workers, local drivers and fork lift drivers with CDLs that park very expensive pieces of line power for hours on end while they drive the forklift and make $5 more per hour than a dock worker?

You 100% summarized why OD is eating our lunch in many areas. There is more to it, but this is a big piece ...

OD is already over $25.00 in my area while we are at $22.88

Even when adding in the 80 cents ($23.68) we're still nearly $1.50 below... In many (if not most) areas. Yeah the OT helps even the score IF you get lots of hours. Don't count on those huge OT hours though, They are to said begin an aggressive quest to minimize those. Stay tuned and you'll see...

Around here, after the raise goes into effect, we'll be above 2 other carriers. Conway & Averitt. Worth noting: Averitt still enjoys "work together & everybody gets along" work environment, from what I can tell

You make a flawed assumption, that FedEx dictates your pay and benefit package based, in any way, on the Operating ratio (OR). It's based solely (sadly?) on what they feel the market will bare. Also, when FXFE gets a handle on OT, (coming soon) they will have the best of both worlds.

Why don't you people give it a rest with the "red shirt" comments. Just because someone has a different opinion they are red shirts? Grow up and stop beating a cliche to death.

If he's not a red shirt they have brain washed him really good! Look the reason we are operating in 90's range is we have to many chiefs and not enough Indians! Aka to many bosses at corporate. Also central dispatch does some of the dumbest things I have ever seen! 2 examples real quick. First we have a run to Effingham and a lot of times they will put Evansville trailers on us when over to Evansville. Evansville is a mile out of route. They will not let us drop it off on way up. They have us pull it all the way to Effingham, because they say it gets freight there late! That adds over 200 miles to trailer If we take it all the way to Effingham , and it just takes 30 minutes to drop it off! REALLY!!!! 2nd we have a meet with little rock east of west Memphis. We were over in or Shreveport lane. They had our driver drive to west Memphis and drop the Shreveport trailer then drive back east to meet little rock! Lit driver got 3 hrs delay and on top of that they could have met an lit driver could have via wme. So corporate wastes more money than we could ever try too.

Also fxfe started paying us ot to keep union out, and back then we were highest paid non union company. Now they use it as a excuse not to pay us more or equal than non union carriers!

So save your crap for a uneducated driver!!

Perfect overview of why they outperform this market segment. And they have for quite some time now. No one else is even close in growth & OR.

Worth updating, since CT revived this thread. Conway: $25.48, FedEx Freight $23.68.
