Anyone willing to be honest will admit it's a lot further off than they'd like. It's to the point that recruiters are bemoaning the term "autonomous truck" because it's making their already-tough job even harder. How do you convince someone to join the trucking industry when the talking heads out there keep saying that driverless trucks are a decade or less away? That's basically telling a prospective driver that they will be out of work in a decade. Not only is it completely untrue, people are being made to believe this lie. And in the belief of that lie, prospective drivers are looking elsewhere for a longer term job prospect. Which is further aggravating the driver shortage.

This would not have happened if he worked for Coop D. Big Dave’s has a military grade GPS in his hat that tracks signals where cell towers fail. He would have had Patel Air fly a copter in to pick him up,within an hour....

I keep looking for a Swift logo on the trailer.

I’m still trying to figure out how someone who lives in that area,drives onto a road he should have known was not truck friendly. Did the article say he was 22?

He notes that XPO’s North American warehouse and distribution footprint puts goods within two-day delivery of more than 90% of the U.S. population. In essence, that timely delivery means “we are giving air-type service for ground rates,” said Chowdhury.

The company says that more than 100 warehouses and crossdocks are now XPO Direct-capable.'

DC Velocity, a supply chain and logistics media outlet, reported earlier this week that following his remarks at the Nasstrac Shipper Conference and Expo in Orlando, Florida, American Trucking Associations President and CEO Chris Spear accused “OOIDA interests” of, among other things, death threats against him and his family, bomb threats on ATA’s headquarters and smearing an ATA executive as a “child molester.”
