True. And ultimately the Teamsters lost the vote and were given the boot. And that's truly the bottom line. Not quite sure how a 17 year old article is relevant today.

There is really no point in arguing about the possibilities, just let it play itself out. Train says it will be a cold day in hell before real men of Saia would sign a card, but it wasn't that long ago that Train himself was pissed off for, what he believed was and I agree with him, a bullshit camera activation, video, and coaching session. The facts are Saia has exercised their right to implement this camera and discipline system and, on the other side of the fence, this camera and discipline system has pissed off a lot of drivers, who have the legal right to screw Saia management by signing union cards without interference or threat from Saia management. Mike Tyson once said, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.". Saia management had a plan and now they are getting punched in the mouth. This confrontation could go spiral out of control. It may not but Train knows that he can't guarantee that it will not and if it does, who knows what will happen. On a cold day in hell.
You are correct. I did voice opposition to being coached for backing without my seatbelt on while I was on private property. And guess what? They made adjustments and now you can. More adjustments can be made in the future and the sensitivity can be dialed back. The perception of these cameras are far worse than the reality. I have driven with them from day one and they are not that bad. You adapt to them and become a safer driver. What in the hell is wrong with that? There is really no point in arguing about the possibilities, just let it play itself out. Real men????? I never said that!!! Are you a union supporter now?Train says it will be a cold day in hell before real men of Saia would sign a card,
Surely your not suggesting the Teamsters could in some way could alter the way SAIA utilizes the cameras..". Saia management had a plan and now they are getting punched in the mouth. 2 Million Mile Safe Driving Award with Saia and months away from 3 Million Award.
The Teamsters coming in would be the worst thing that could ever happen to SAIA. That's the only response I will make tonight. I'm going to bed because I have to be in early tomorrow. I will be back to address the corrupt organization known as the Teamsters.Great post Rider !!! And so true. It will take a little time but we will get it right. It's really just a matter of time. The right people will come along. Not everyone is cut out to work for SAIA.

Just because the company is making money and "doing fine" does not mean the workforce is content.
Train's response:
All companies have cry babies. It's just the nature of the business.
I appreciate your enthusiasm but not everyone is cut out for Saia, that's a little much. They can dial the sensitivity back to nothing but they still implement . A longtime driver, not me, rolled thru a stop sign and was written up by someone that wouldn't even know how set a brake. That's some kind of adaptation.
Real men????? I never said that!!! Are you a union supporter now?
you're right, you didn't say that but when you get on your cheerleader box, you imply as much and when you wrote, not everyone is cut out to work for Saia, that just twanged my last nerve.
Surely your not suggesting the Teamsters could in some way could alter the way SAIA utilizes the cameras. The union comes in and says join up and those cameras are gone could happen. Anything is negotiable.
As you can tell, not everyone is a happy camper like you Train and those unhappy campers have options that will make you an unhappy camper as well. The company is playing with fire, I just hope they don't burn all of us.

Oh Lordy, I have awaken the beast. Sorry guys. Phil Williams may have hit the nail on the head when he posted, If it is voted in it would be just out of spite. It could happen just that way, just for that simple of a reason and some good BS selling on the part of the organizers. What the hell do I know. I wasn't born with the Saia logo on my forehead, I'm just the equivalent of a shelter pet.The Teamsters coming in would be the worst thing that could ever happen to SAIA. Cutting your nose off to spite your face isn't very smart. Whatever!!Oh Lordy, I have awaken the beast. Sorry guys. Nobody is perfect. We all have bad habits that we may not even be aware of. It can't be taken personal. Bad behavior has no age barrier. That trainer just may have helped that driver reach that 3 million mile mark. Arrogance and complacency have been the downfall of many senior drivers. Try and find some humility guys. No one is perfect.I went thur HST last week and seen 20+ year driver with Trainer because of camera violations....
