Trust me, it is so the triples get on the OHTP with no interruption.. Another great link though..

If I remember correctly does OSHA require the company to use an approved OSHA system of cleaning snow?

OSHA - Safety and Health Topics_Fall Protection

Any time a worker is at a height of four feet or more, the worker is at risk and needs to be protected. Fall protection must be provided at four feet in general industry, five feet in maritime and six feet in construction. However, regardless of the fall distance, fall protection must be provided when working over dangerous equipment and machinery.

Ice Missile - Defined

Ice missiles the cause of several big wrecks and huge backups in PA

Truck ice missiles were the cause of several of the worst wrecks in the nasty winter storms in Pennsylvania this week - great lumps of ice shooting off the roofs of tractor-trailers. Unlike the incompetently managed PennDOT highways the pavement of the Pennsylvania Turnpike was kept clear by early salting and quick and repeated plowing. But that didn't protect it from ice missile attack.

Massachusetts General Law - Throwing or Dropping Objects onto Public Way

Whoever willfully or negligently drops, throws or otherwise releases any object, missile or other article onto any way...

www.northjersey.com - Editorial: A reasonable road safety measure

IF THE POLICE were to notice a trucker driving down a New Jersey highway carrying an unsecured load of bricks, the driver would likely be stopped and ticketed before he caused an accident.

But if that unsecured load were an 8-inch-thick accumulation of day-old snow that would blind a driver if it were to blow off, or a
missile of ice that could shatter a windshield and cause a chain reaction of accidents, the police would have to look the other way and hope nothing happens.

Answer? refuse to drive the equipment until it is clear of debris. Prepare for the typical first reaction from management and grieve until they have to admit that the 4 pillars of safe work methods and space and visibility are violated.:BlahBlah::Rulz::argue:

It was a company truck. We were in contact with their insurance company and they said it is every driver’s responsibility to clean off their vehicle completely.

*** There You go... The insurance company is going to Blame the Driver! :Poke:

It's not even necessary to grieve this issue!

Just don't pull the equipment... until the company addresses the issue!

Just as I stated in post #20 - print out the law (s)...

Start with the two (2) Federal Governments:

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

Occupational Safety & Health Administration

Then Your particular State Law (s)...

If they are not here - and You need help finding them... then let Me know!
