ABF | Ue going to 5 days?

Keep us appraised of the situation. The Fort needs to hear these things.
Found out yesterday that every pick up missed has to be answered to via e-mail. This is gong on for two years now, so I'm thinking they don't care about the freight. One problem we have is the dayshift dispatcher only cares about inbound & packs the runs or sends you on wild goose chases so you have no chance at making your pickups. Tm don't want to rock the boat, this may be the reason he will be escorted off the property.....

That seems to be the standard operating procedure for the company. Bring all the guys in early and leave none for the afternoon load. It is surprising that they don't get into fights (inbound vs outbound sups) over it.

I'm done talking about it, obviously it's a waste of time....

If he has to answer for all the missed pickups via email ,then the poor guy must have carpal tunnel syndrome since the roll out of the freight blitz that started in early November when we cut our rates but had not enough man power or equipment to cover everything. Maybe his emails explain everything away and the powers that be are mesmerized by his ability to spin tall tales and explain how it's not our fault at this tiny terminal and how we are out numbered by the greater forces of our customers and how our weary work force is battered day in and day out, but we keep on fighting with worn out equipment and tired soldiers that keep up the fight everyday. With workers that do house deliveries that need two men ,But No !!! One man can make it happen ! Even with customers that want the impossible done ! ........Sorry, i'm just babbling on now.

............or made an underling VP.........

I'll bet they're blaming it all on us truck drivers...... Our managers are completely flummoxed as to why drivers aren't quitting their better-paid jobs with more,...and immediate,....... vacation,.......and better equipment,........to come on with ABF, and help out moving this glut of freight temporarily until they aren't needed for a month or so.......Don't these drivers know there's a driver shortage going on?......Don't they know our upper management wants to pay corporate bonuses, and possibly buy more logistics companies before the end of the year? To take advantage of the tax breaks?,...... And, oh yeah.....not pay any bonus .? ........Those selfish drivers who are only thinking of their families and futures are to blame,..........They should quit and come here to haul our freight for a pay cut......and no vacation for two years.....

Hey at least you guys still have freight to miss, over at YRC theyve come to realize nobody is coming to work for us, so they just keep cutting business to match our ever shrinking work force. You'll probably look back at this time as good times when there was extra work, compared to no work. We dont even worry about missed pickups or any other customer concern anymore, because from the companies view, losing customers is a continual, and necessary process.

All I got to say is you have to see this to believe it. 24 years in ltl & I'm shaking my head while typing this. We hit the iceberg months ago & they still dont know it....
That's the perfect analogy. Our upper management are on the bridge ordering the band to keep playing, and deciding important things like what sort of uniform the crew should wear while the water is sloshing around their ankles. Meanwhile, the engine room crew has abandoned ship in the lifeboats, and are retiring over the horizon. The once grand ship settles slowly deeper into the water.........

The only difference is, their life raft is the USS Nonunion, and it's full of golden parachutes. Sometimes I think they could care less if the Titanic does sink. Let all those troublesome stinky truck drivers and their families drown...

Maybe they should re-regulate the industry if shippers needs are not being met.
Or they can better compensate the drivers instead of themselves. And maybe they will find qualified people to fill these positions....Its not a driver shortage, it's a money shortage. If ABF thinks going the logistics route is their saving grace they better think again because nobody wants to drive anymore for what they want to pay....

And where is our so-called IBT .......",leadership "....in all this dialogue? Why, they're on the yacht S.S Thurston Howell III........ supposedly oblivious to real world conditions in LTL,........and throwing champagne bottles at the retiring life boats, trying to put holes in them......" We don't see no icebergs" , says our glorious captain, ...."All we see is these whiny sailors complaining because their ship is a little flooded."

We hit a new low, missed the same customer for the 2nd day!! On the bright side maybe tomorrow?

This isn't 5th night UE.. Its Linehaul.. being paid UE and ran like UE.. Ever do the math? rules, etc.. Do you have linehaul at your terminal and are their seniority rights being violated. could be a turn they are being passed on.. UE wasn't created to schedule on an as needed basis or at hunting season. Certain members voted in flexibility with certain trucks. UE runs were negotiated in change of operations and slightly adjusted in MOU's. BTW, Bid UE shouldn't be allowing this.. Stewards,, your 10% are running linehaul.. your being manipulated and lied too.. contact your B.A..
You will hear that Road Drivers were given a chance to go to terminals keeping their seniority to become UE drivers. Why aren't we asking where those assembly jobs for home deliveries went. Look no farther than JBHunt Final Mile. That's right it was taken away from us. Besides Brothers UE premium pay is more than road pay.

If a Road Diver is violated he will be paid if you sign in and out.

Besides Brothers UE premium pay is more than road pay.
Is that strictly based on one who is grandfathered in under the old RPM wages, or does it apply to all of them? I would be impressed and surprised if they all got that kind of money. How many are there who are still under the mileage rate of yore?

When UE is ran on a premium day uou are paid hourly or which ever pays the most. Whete road uou paid Mileage only. Under the old pay scale UE blows road pay out the window.
