It seems that way because we want everything to be A or B. Yes or no. Pro or anti. If you're against unionizing XPO, then you must be pro-management. If you are pro-worker, you must be pro-union. That's lazy thinking.
I don't have any particular affinity for management, or XPO for that matter. I like my job, I'm happy here. I accept my working conditions and compensation. Somehow it seems as though the worst thing you can be is a content employee in this place, and I think that's juvenile and sad. Sometimes management makes good decisions, sometimes they don't. I don't lose much sleep over it. Someone else gets paid to worry about the way the company is running- I don't.
Of course not.
Sure. (Hollywoodz and Sucker, you can skip this part.) Make your voice heard. Be someone that people will listen to because you rarely complain and when you do it's thoughtful and reasoned feedback, not ignored because you're an eternal fountain of rabid negativity. Accept that some things will not change as fast as you might like, and some things may not change at all. Work to understand all sides of the issue, not just what you want, but why you may not be able to get it. Fill out every survey you can find with thoughtful responses. Seek out upper level management when they visit your barn, and have a conversation. Encourage other employees to do the same- hell, make petitions if you want. Treat management and VPs like people doing a job, not Sith Lords obsessed with your misery. Don't be afraid to climb the chain- if you're getting ignored, move up until someone gives you an answer. VPs have email and phones- make it worth their time to listen to you. What would they say if they saw your name on the phone? "Christ, it's ICUICP again." or "Wonder what's on his mind?"? And don't forget that not getting what you want doesn't mean that no one heard you.
